Job Description

Job Summary

To provide leadership in the strategy and implementation of the company’s safety plans as well as the supervision of corporate safety staff and its truck driver associates including DOT/CSA compliance.  Oversight of orientation and presentation of safety programs and procedures.  Additional responsibilities include ensuring that all driver associates are met with while at the company’s terminal facility located in Kansas City and that their needs are professionally and efficiently addressed.

CFO, President, Driver Managers, Safety, Recruiting and Compliance Staff. 

Duties, Job Functions, Responsibilities and Oversight

  • Conduct training courses offered by the Safety Department.
  • Perform all DOT Safety related functions including, but not limited to, accident reviews, annual reviews and remedial driver log training.
  • Oversight of DOT drug and Breath Alcohol tests (BAT) program.
  • Provide 24-hour on call support for Safety related items and compliance.
  • Assists in the documentation and implementation of required or desired changes in the safety program.
  • Research new DOT/CSA regulations and recommend changes in the company’s program.
  • Write general Safety plans, design implementation plans, execute, review and audit for compliance.
  • Ensures full compliance with DOT/CSA.
  • Reinforces safety awareness in a manner that promotes cooperation and improved morale.
  • Reviews DQ files to insure all required records are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.

  • To perform coaching remotely as well as in-cab.
  • Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact.
  • QUALCOMM (Omnitracs), AS400 System. Tenstreet knowledge experience a plus.

Qualifications

High level of proficiency in procedures, policies, methodology and instruction of driver associates.

  • Knowledge of Federal Regulations and Company requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State traffic laws and requirements for tractor/trailer equipment.
  • Knowledge of semi-truck and trailer operations, safety and compliance.

Education

  • Associate degree or higher.
  • Public speaking.
  • Transportation Safety Experience
