Marketing Representative

Highly profitable commercial lines carrier has retained The Carlisle Group seeking to hire a talented Marketing Representative. This role, reporting to the VP of Underwriting & Marketing, will focus on profitable growth within the Tennessee and Missouri markets. The client seeks a professional with a strong marketing/agency relations background, desire to visit face to face with their independent agents, and someone who would enjoy significant autonomy in this work from home opportunity.  

Position Summary:
Develops and implements strategic marketing plan for organization. Monitor trends that indicate the need for new products and services, and they oversee product development. Promote the firm’s products and services and to agencies to attract and retain profitable policyholders. Primarily out in field and from your home office. Will visit agents within assigned territory.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop strategies and tactics in order to identify, create and maintain relationships with agency principals, producers and customer service reps
  • Develops and maintains effective business relationships at all levels of assigned agencies as well as with various internal departments
  • Identify target markets, develop products, promote organization and provide support services
  • Prospect for new agency appointments within a region
  • Visit contracted agency partners to maintain, enhance and develop ongoing relationships with agents
  • Markets company products through agent contacts to achieve growth and profitability targets
  • Manage complex books of business to maximize profitability and growth
  • Provide products and services that are customer relevant to create partnership with agents
  • Helps coordinate policyholder servicing with underwriter and other disciplines through respective agency producer on large accounts
  • Provide training to agency staff on systems, processes and products
  • Maintain and monitor accounts to hit target profitability, new business hit ratios and retention ratio
  • Closely monitor loss history and growth for each assigned agent. Works with new business and renewal underwriters to develop appropriate plans of actions and address accordingly
  • Completes call reports and other documentation within established time frames.
  • Stays abreast of competition and maintains competitive intelligence for assigned territories 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong marketing, negotiation and analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Prior exposure to insurance underwriting type activities
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Resourceful and assertive behavior characteristics
  • Knowledge of departmental regulations and policies
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted underwriting practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required

 

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 710 years experiences in field
  • Associated classes or courses and/or industry license, or designation
  • Experience in standard underwriting practices and procedures
  • CIC, CPCU or other industry designations a plus
