VPI Supplier Quality Engineer
Consulted and Involved in the selection, management, development, problem-solving, and assurance of defect-free performance of the assigned direct material supplier chain. The objective of this work is to collaborate with the supplier and shadow and partner with other resources at Client to support the use of quality improvement tools and methods aimed at the achievement of zero defects performance.
Participates as a team member in the supplier evaluation, selection, and strategic sourcing process development with coaching and guidance.
Assists in the supplier corrective action process including containment, fault tree analysis/identification of the assignable cause, root cause analysis, and permanent corrective actions with oversight and guidance.
Assists suppliers on the use of quality tools especially the Product Parts Approval Process.
Collaborates with suppliers to ensure all product requirements are understood and met, and coaches suppliers to meet the requirements of the Client Supplier Handbook with guidance from others.
Reviews the supplier quality resources for low-risk new product introduction and current products to reduce supplier-related issues, improve process capabilities, and ensure timely project launches.
Responsible for determining that all requirements are met by the supplier for new or changed products with coaching and guidance from others and are typically focused on Value Package Change Requests and associated Production Part Approval Process requirements with some involvement on low-risk Value Package Introduction and related Advanced Product Quality Planning activities.
Understands the measurement of supplier quality performance according to established procedures and collaborates with suppliers to identify appropriate improvements to meet established targets.
Collaborates with suppliers on their continuous improvement activities to reduce defects.

impacted by the supplier waivers
- Incoming wavier impacts on outgoing assemblies tracking
- Working with suppliers and corporate SQI teams on source releases and lack of
- Containments / sorts / iCARs from non-PPAP'd components
- Own up to Step 3 in the plant, then hand off to corporate SQI
- Manage Supplied components disturbance tracker for all non-PPAP'd components
- Support source release creation and PPAP support for suppliers
- Support multiple plant location VPI supplier quality issues

Quality System Management - Guides in the practice and application of quality management system standards required by international certification bodies, industry-specific regulatory authorities and customer's contractually specified requirements.
Supplier Quality Management - Leads all aspects of supplier quality management; helps develop strategy and collaborative supplier partnerships; identifies supplier innovation capabilities; contributes to supplier audit and certification process; tracks supplier performance metrics and acts to quickly resolve issues to improve supplier quality performance.
Project Issue and Risk Management - Manages the process to identify, assess and prioritize issues and risks using recommended tools and processes to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of negative events or to maximize the realization of positive events.
Production Part Approval Process - Coordinates the level of submission of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities and information related to the introduction of new or changed products and processes; dispositions the product's readiness for production in accordance with the Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) and APQP provisions of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) manuals and Client procedures in order to meet supplier and customer requirements.
Supplier Product Definition Integration - Coordinates the various technical activities cross-functionally to ensure that the supplier's technical design "i.e. supplier design record if applicable” and/or manufacturing processes can produce the required quality throughout the Client product definition life cycle and to understand and meet the Client product definition "i.e. customer design record” and related expectations.
Supplier Technical Manufacturing Management - Represents Client to our external direct material supply chain by being the technical interface for assuring and improving the supplier's ability to manufacture products that meet the Client product definition while meeting the quality expectations defined by Client operation(s), their customers, and the requirements of the Client Supplier Handbook.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Minimal level of relevant work experience required.
