Industrial Design
  • Under the supervision and direction of the Industrial Designer or Engineering Manager:
  • Assists in conceptual development of new products and upgrade of current products through the design process.
  • Assists in artwork and drawing generation for new and updated labels and user manuals.
  • Creates new and updating illustrations guides for collateral materials such as product guides and sales guides.
  • Collects and organizes background research in formative stages of a project.
  • Creates preliminary sketches, renderings and surgical procedure illustrations.
  • Creates mechanical layouts and model drawings.
  • Fabricates mock-ups and study models.
  • Assists with human factors research and specifications.
  • Maintains product media documentations.
  • Other duties as assigned
Team Member 
  • Works in a learning mode on cross-functional project teams through all phases of the product development process. 
  • Includes planning and executing projects from concept through the launch and initial production ramp-up. 
  • Supports lead product changes after launch based on defined needs of the business.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Technical Skills – Well-rounded design skills. Familiar with the Industrial Design process (research/human factor applications, ideation, design refinement, CAD generation, 2D and 3D presentation). Basic knowledge in manufacturing such as materials and processes. Proficient in ideation and concept sketching. Ability to present and bring concepts to life through the use of 2D/3D design software.
  • Communication – Communicates effectively at all levels of the organization. Expresses ideas clearly and simply both verbally and in writing. Promotes timely, ongoing flow of information to others. Communicates and listens effectively in order to develop and maintain key business relationships.
  • Interpersonal Skills – Ability to work with co-workers and customers, both internal and external, of all levels. Ability to professionally interact and build constructive and effective relationships with all levels and functions within the Company. Ability to effectively interface with others on behalf of the organization. 
  • Presentation Skills – Demonstrated ability to present 1:1 or in group settings. Delivers a clear and compelling message tailored to the needs of the audience.

Ability to prioritize workload, goals and tasks consistent with the department and corporate objectives. Ability to multi-task, completing concurrent projects within given time frames and managing interruptions and change requests.

  • Customer Orientation – Demonstrates a keen understanding of various customers’ (internal or external) needs and utilizes a variety of Mammotome resources to provide solutions and a compelling value proposition.
  • Computer Skills – Proficient computer system-based tools including Microsoft Office applications, presentation, e-mail, web browsers and spreadsheet software. Proficient in both 2D and 3D software programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Alias Studio, Solid Works, and Sketchbook Pro for use in product design and graphic art production.


  • Experience in using 2D and 3D design softwares (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Alias Studio, Showcase, Solidworks, Sketch Book Pro) along with modeling experience or knowledge (SLA, SLS, FDM, 3d Printer, CNC). 

  • Previous Co-op experience in an industrial design function.
  • Experience in medical device and/or product development.

  • Matriculated student working towards an Associate’s Degree (AS) or a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Industrial Design, Interaction Design or Human Factors Engineering (or related field equivalent) required. 
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 within curriculum is required.
  • Portfolio of work available for review by hiring manager required.

  • May be required to travel up to 5% of the time. 
  • Typical work-related travel assignments range 1-3 days, and as such overnight, out-of-town stays may be required as need arises.
