MITREs Army Modernization Department is seeking a Technology Lead to partner with Army sponsors, industry, and across MITRE to identify, shape, and lead rapid prototyping efforts in emerging technology areas. You will partner with Army sponsors to identify rapid prototyping opportunities for Army Modernization through data driven analysis and decisions. You will build technical communities of interest to ensure selected protypes meet Army requirements and operational needs.

Leading a multidisciplinary team you will work with Army sponsors, industry, and across MITRE to identify, shape and lead critical technology development. This includes rapid prototype development, research in emerging technologies, and enabling the integration of these technologies into the Armys modernization efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify capability gaps and leverage MITRE technical and operational expertise to address those gaps

  • Partner with Government sponsors, industry, and across MITRE to identify critical technologies that can be quickly prototyped to meet Army operational needs

  • Provide technical leadership in planning and developing rapid prototypes in multiple areas ranging from electronic warfare, wireless communications, small UAS, and AI-assisted decision aides

  • Ensure that new technologies are integrated into the Armys overall system-of-systems

  • As part of a team, interface with operational users to gain feedback on what capabilities would be valuable to them and how they would employ those technologies

  • Develop experimentation and test plans for both lab and field experiments

  • Identify, propose, and lead research in next generation technologies

  • Provide periodic reviews to Army leadership

  • Proactively identify emerging opportunities as well as risks and a plan for mitigating those risks

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 6 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a similar degree

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: wireless communications, Army tactical networks, artificial intelligence, machine learning, multi-agent autonomy, signal processing, electronics, RF systems, high performance computing, software development, data fabrics, cloud computing and storage

  • A passion for learning and applying new technologies to solve sponsor problems

  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interface with sponsors at multiple levels of seniority

  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

  • 8 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree or higher

  • 10 years of relevant experience

  • Familiarity with agile software development

  • Experience with one or more of the following: C, C++, Python, Java

  • Familiarity with digital hardware

  • Experience with Modeling and Simulation

  • Previous experience working with the Army

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
