Engineering Technician I - Design Support
Engineering Technician (I) will learn on the job how to support capital improvement projects with the production of traditional 2D plans, 3D modeling, CAD file management, and CAD workflow and processes. The technician will learn, assist, and be mentored by senior staff overseeing the reliability and operations of Metropolitan’s engineering and design technology systems. They will apply basic skills to resolve technical technology issues, learn to conduct analysis of systems and reports, learn the usage of our databases, and assist with developing and improving current standards, work processes, guidelines, and manuals. The successful candidate will gain knowledge and experience in maintaining, administering, and configuring design technology applications in the areas of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems, Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems, Microsoft Office 365 SharePoint, and collaborative design review software.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate (HSEC), and EITHER two years of accredited college or university in engineering related coursework OR two years of relevant experience.
Relevant Experience is defined as: a combination of two or more years of college courses in CAD; engineering; design; and/or work experience for an architectural, engineering, or construction (AEC) firm with skills operating CAD systems, design production; Microsoft 365; document infrastructure data; workflows and processes.
Please note: Proof of two years of accredited college or university in engineering related course work will need to be provided prior to interviews.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
