Work you’ll do
Lead the development of solutions to facilitate automated, consistent, efficient, and standardized orchestration of IT and security processes for the solutions delivery organization.  Provide technical direction and end-to-end delivery of IT automation initiatives to address business needs, and lead projects to successful implementation.  Improve existing processes and/or develop new processes to improve efficiency where possible.  Coordinate the interaction between Operations, Development, QA, Support, and business teams. Possesses in-depth knowledge and cross-functional understanding in the areas of scripting (PowerShell, bash, Jscript, VB.NET, Ruby, Python, Perl), data center infrastructure (network, storage, server hardware), cloud platforms and virtualization technologies, IT process automation and orchestration tools (MS Orchestrator, Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, etc), software development lifecycle, Windows/Unix server administration, and web services (REST,SOAP)
Illustrative Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide research, development and support in the area of security, compliance, and IT process automation
  • Devise and implement automated workflows to reduce manual effort for repeated security, compliance, and reporting tasks, and prevent problems and outages from occurring through more consistent/predictable delivery of services
  • Coordinates requirements gathering, solution design sessions, implementation plans and proof of concepts
  • Defines technical evaluation criteria for vendor products and solutions and determines technical approaches to ensure all architectural solutions result in an efficient systems design
  • Analyzes emerging technologies in the area of automation/orchestration and influences direction of project solutions
  • Develops business cases showing proposed value of automation and estimated return on investment, followed by regular collection of automation metrics to demonstrate cost/time savings
  • Partners with ITS business representatives and business leaders to understand business drivers and critical needs. Ensures alignment between the business strategies and SDO security and technology roadmap while advising leadership on costs, benefits, and implementation requirements
  • Possesses exceptionally strong software, system, security, and network skills
  • Continue pursuit of knowledge of automation tools, configuration management tools, reporting tools, and infrastructure management tools through seminars, webinars, technical publications, and product evaluations.
  • Responsible for architecting, implementing, maintaining and upgrading orchestration, reporting dashboards, and self-service tools.
  • Establish and maintain IT process automation methodologies, documentation, and resources (ie. script repository).
  • Design, develop, implement and maintain a cost effective, long-term IT automation strategy and roadmap promoting reusable components, low maintenance costs, high efficiency and scalability.

Job Requirements


Required Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in server, software, security and network troubleshooting
  • Advanced proficiency in scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Perl, Bash, or similar)
  • Advanced proficiency Windows Server administration and installation
  • Advanced proficiency at least one IT orchestration tool (Microsoft or HP Orchestrator, Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible)
  • Advanced proficiency MS Office applications
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration and installation
  • Proficiency with database technologies (e.g. MS SQL Server, T-SQL, Mysql, MongoDB)
  • Proficiency with common datacenter infrastructure such as DNS, LDAP, Active Directory, email relays, etc.
    Proficiency with virtualization and cloud computer (VMM,VMWare,Openstack, Azure, AWS)
  • Familiarity with configuration automation systems (Puppet, Chef)
  • Familiarity with web development (i.e. C#, ASP.NET, WCF, XML/XSLT, JavaScript, JQuery)
  • Familiarity with reporting and dashboard technologies (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
  • None 
Education & Experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Advanced degree in MIS, security, or other technical discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in technology leadership on large enterprise projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.  Must be able to easily grasp and communicate complex ideas
  • Appropriate sense of urgency and proactive approach
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Less than 25%
