The Acquisition & Integration Manager is responsible for all activities related to the successful & efficient integration of acquired dispensary operations into the our Client's organization and the operating platform. Specific areas of integration include back-office services, operating tools, business processes, marketing, merchandise, HR and corporate culture. The Manager will report to the Director of Retail Operations who has responsibility to integrate all acquired cannabis dispensary practices in an efficient, stream-lined, cost effective and successful approach.
The ideal candidate has; a) an understanding of cannabis dispensary operations, b) knowledge and comfort handling implementations, and c) strong project management and communication skills.
This role is located in Southern California and will require 70%-75% travel. You will be spending approximately 4 weeks in each location, on-boarding staff to understand our client's retail operations processes and policies with the support of human resources and other key staff within the organization.
Although every integration is unique, the Integration Manager will be responsible for the implementation of the company's standard integration playbook for each business acquired.
The Manager will be both the Integration Leader and the lead Company's cultural ambassador at the newly acquired business and should be comfortable coaching and troubleshooting.
Depending on the pace of new business, the Manager may be leading multiple integrations simultaneously – each at a various stage of integration.
You should expect to spend significant time traveling – including extended stays on the ground at new businesses locations.
This role will be involved early in the acquisition process (at least 30 days before the close date) to help ensure a smooth transition at close. Ideally, much of the integration work will be done prior to close. However, some aspects may take longer and will need to be carefully coordinated with the company's functions – such as Dispensary Operations (who will operate the business after close).
Partner with both the company's teams and corresponding functions at the newly acquired company to manage integration plans that will include:
Finance & Accounting – Reporting, Revenue Cycle Management, Billing Centers
IT / Technology Platforms – conversion to Cannabis POS Systems, HRIS Systems, Accounting software, ERP systems.
Product Supply Chain – Dispensary product Inventory & Assortment Planning
Marketing – Website Migration
HR – Benefits, Payroll, Employment Agreements, Employee Census to be entered into HRIS System, Employee On-Boarding, Talent Assessment
Retail Operations – Sales & Service Policies,
Coordinate with The Company's Operations team to ensure that all of the company will effectively manage the performance after acquisition including access to operating performance reports and business processes.
Manage the overall integration of an acquired dispensary, addressing issues and risks by working with the acquired team members and the company's team leaders to ensure that the work plan stays on calendar and costs
Communicate to integration, financial and operations on project progress, concerns and challenges to make certain issues are addressed upfront and solved with team input
What we are looking for:
College degree preferred
Retail, hospitality industry experience (store level manager role) is recommended, minimally need to have some experience working in dispensary retail
Cannabis industry experience a plus
Comfort and familiarity with managing IT implementation/transition plans
Project management leadership with a discipline to manage on time and communicate appropriately
Strong communication and organizational skills as you will likely be managing more than one project at a time
Broader understanding and familiarity of common business functions including accounting, HR, merchandise, and marketing is helpful
Experience leading or being part of an implementation or transition services team
Ability to Travel 70% of the time (some weeks/months will require more travel than others depending on Acquisition Schedule)
