AFCO Distribution & Milling Spokane Valley, WA (Onsite) Full-Time

AFCO Mill operates one of the region’s premier feed mills in Spokane Valley, WA. Our mill manufactures a variety of product lines including LMF Horse Feeds, Palouse Brand, Earth First Poultry Feed, Aslin-Finch Feeds, Backyard Bistro and Barnyard Bistro. We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Millwright Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support our experienced millwrights in maintaining and repairing equipment and performing various tasks to ensure our facilities operate smoothly and efficiently. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in the millwright trade.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist Millwright with the maintenance and repairs of processing equipment and capital budget improvements.

• Support regular maintenance and preventive maintenance of structures and equipment on the premises.

• Safely use and maintain hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and delivery vehicles.

• Conduct troubleshooting and assist in identifying and resolving issues with machinery and equipment.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.

• Maintain a safe and clean work area.

• Exhibit strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Be available for emergency repairs to minimize downtime.

• Climb ladders to perform routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks.

• Paint structures and equipment as directed.

• Assist in managing inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.

• Collaborate with other departments to schedule maintenance and repairs, minimizing disruption to production processes.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older

• Possess a high school diploma or GED

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment

• Possess a valid driver license with safe driving history

• Read and interpret measurements accurately using a tape measure.

• Must have experience with using power tools safely

• Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 60 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 80 pounds with assistance.

• Proven track record of being safe, dependable and reliable

• Ability to effectively communicate and follow written and verbal directions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Welding and fabrication experience.

• Proficiency in operating all-terrain forklifts.

• Capability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

• Familiarity with operating elevated work platforms.

• Knowledge and experience with lock out/tag out procedures to ensure safety during equipment maintenance.

• Competence in using fall protection harnesses for working at heights.

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. The mill typically operates Monday – Thursday on ten hours shifts. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$20 – $25/hour. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:
