Job Description

Maxim Government Services is searching for qualified Physical Therapists to perform in-home Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Assessments in Riverside and/or San Bernardino counties. Training and reporting equipment will be provided. Hours are flexible.

1) Provide in-home DME medical necessity evaluation services to Members in Riverside & San Bernardino Counties;
2) Provide an unbiased DME evaluation or functional assessments, by a physical therapist, to determine if a Member qualifies for high cost mobility DME and needed equipment type. A separate DME Provider will be sent to fit and provide approved equipment to the Member;
3) Review cases for medical necessity based on IEHP-approved criteria sets, which include California Code of Regulations Title 22, IEHP Utilization Management Subcommittee Approved Authorization Guidelines, Milliman Care Guidelines, InterQual and Apollo Managed Care Guidelines/Medical Review Criteria;
4) Consult with DME vendors on specific challenges when necessary; and
5) Provide a written finding(s) summary report in 5-10 days from request receipt.

• Home Health

• Focused clinical practice with home safety and equipment assessments with recommendations
• Experience with individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions
• IT savvy (assessments will be completed on tablet)
• Self-Directed (this position will be very autonomous)
• Reliable Transportation
• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice
• Must comply with accepted professional standards and practice
• One year of prior professional Physical Therapy experience preferred; home care experience preferred
• Must possess and maintain current CPR certification in accordance with State regulation(s)
• Current record of PPD or chest x-ray results, if applicable
• Must remain accessible via two-way communication for consultation during the delivery of care, per state regulations
• Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
