LJA is offering a Graduate Engineer I position that will allow you to develop a strong career foundation, expand your base skills into a larger repertoire of technical tools across multiple disciplines, and be assigned project roles that best fit your interests, drive, and skill. The structure of our organization is designed to maximize your development through peer learning, communication & organization enhancement courses, mentor programs, and diverse discipline opportunities, resulting in advancement specific to your individual performance. When the time comes, LJA will assist you with your preparation for the PE Exam by covering the costs of a one-time prep class and pay for the annual license renewal once you have it.

A TYPICAL WEEK MIGHT INCLUDE

Graduate Engineer I uses AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and other design and production software to provide design, production, and project administrative support in the delivery of feasibilities, opinions of probable cost, studies, exhibits, construction plans, takeoffs, bid packages, models, and development support tasks for an extensive list of public and private clients. Our exciting and entrepreneurial culture will allow you to think creatively, solve problems, and meet the needs of our clients daily.

  • Collaborate with technical experts, peers, and support roles to perform design calculations, prepare equipment or material specifications, and generate technical drawings and exhibits.
  • Expand your engineering toolbox and vocabulary to add knowledge of advanced techniques, applied theory, industry concepts, and best practices.
  • Investigate a limited number of variables; supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems and possible solutions.
  • Work in an office equipped with meeting rooms, amenities, and excellent technology.
  • Investigate existing site conditions, jurisdictional criteria, and constraints to inform design iterations and direction.
  • Check in with your manager and other engineering mentors to identify areas of excellence and growth opportunities.
  • Provide information or exhibits to inform client and internal leaders in decision-making related to the execution or implementation of project objectives.

“MUST HAVE” QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from ABET accredited university (Civil Engineering Preferred)

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Previous work experience in the engineering industry
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Water Resources Software (HEC-RAS & HEC-HMS)
  • Passed the FE Exam
  • Team Mentality
