What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Intern, Robotics Technician to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Intern, Robotics Technician helps implement cutting-edge robotics solutions in the warehousing logistics space. This cross-disciplinary role works hands-on with various engineering disciplines to design, prototype, troubleshoot and deploy robotics systems. This role is critical to ensure we deliver safe and reliable automation solutions and superior service to our customers.

Your contribution may include:

  • Work on tasks, from small electromechanical or hydraulic assemblies and test stands, to fully integrated robots.

  • Build and install sensors and other components to bring up production autonomous mobile robots for customer deployments and test use.

  • Conduct preventative or corrective maintenance action of autonomous mobile robots or other automation equipment.

  • Read engineering drawings, assembly diagrams, and electrical schematics, or other verbal, digital, and written instructions to build and install electro-mechanical components.

  • Follow written work instructions and help engineers and other robotics technicians to develop processes through open feedback and documentation.

  • Perform ad-hoc requests to develop and/or analyze operational or department-specific processes.

  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

  • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.

  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As an Intern, Robotics Technician, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Tech R & D Robotics team in Fort Smith, AR. This is a part time internship position starting in May through the summer that will average 30-40 hours per week. Typical hours will fall between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm during the summer months.

Ready to apply? Before doing so, please make sure you meet the minimum requirements:

Education: Currently pursuing associate’s degree in robot technology or related field, required. Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in robot technology or related field, preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in robot technology, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or related field, preferred.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
