Production Machine Operator

SUMMARY:

This is an entry level position. This position will learn multiple bakery production jobs, many of which are machine operator positions. Responsibilities include the consistent production of a high quality product in a baking facility while incorporating safety and sanitation standards. This position is committed to ensuring the best quality products, excellent customer service by following good manufacturing practices.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

Work Schedule: Attends regularly and on time to this position as scheduled.  May be required to work unscheduled days in unforeseen circumstances, as well as holidays and weekends.

  • Follow company authorized standards precisely unless deviated by supervision and/or management.
  • Ensure and inspect integrity of the equipment and product clean and free of any contaminants.
  • Loading and unloading pans from production line. 
  • Loading and unloading oven and/or proof box. 
  • Dumping waste buckets. 
  •  Assisting with other positions as assigned by supervisor.
  • Filling in for absent positions in production or packaging areas. 
  • Taking appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the food safety and food quality system. 
  • Responsible for reporting and taking necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring. 
  • Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan, the Food Quality Plan, and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits. 
  • Performing any and all other duties as assigned. 
  • Must be available to work any and all shifts assigned. 
  • Monitor for foreign material and ensure ingredient integrity.
  • Adhere to facility (F.I.F.O) standards.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable movement, such as climbing, lifting, walking, stooping and handling of heavy materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Clean packaging containers, materials, supplies or work areas using cleaning supplies.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable movement, such as climbing, lifting, walking, stooping and handling of heavy materials up to 55 pounds.
  • Keep work area clean constantly monitoring for slips, trips and falls.
  • Responsible for food safety and the quality of the product.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.
  • Specific tasks require standing for long periods, walking, grasping, lifting, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, stacking and dumping over shoulder high.
  • Must have visual and mental ability to identify various products and read and understand instructions, gauges, numeric displays and thermometers.
  •  A quality product is the responsibility of each employee.  Be alert to handle or report any damaged or inferior product to Supervision.
  • Perform all other related assignments including assisting and training of other associates as required by Supervision.
  • Be a team player, have solid interpersonal skills, and a strong commitment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Worker subject to inside work, protected from weather conditions. Worker subjected to temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour that is process related and more extreme in summer months.
  • Worker subject to noise sufficient to require hearing protection in designated areas.
  • Worker subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, and moving objects carrying considerable weight and force. 
  • Capable of working in environment of flour dust. 
  • Work requires the ability to read, write and communicate in English in order to understand and follow work and safety instructions.  Must be able to perform basic arithmetic to include adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. 
  • Fully trained in Lock-Out Tag-Out.
  • Some analytical ability required in order to gather and interpret data in situations where the problems are somewhat complex in dealing with ingredient formulations. 
  • Independent judgment is often required.  Some direct guidance is received from Supervisor and/or from established procedures or instructions. The consequence of errors is significant in cost in time, product loss or public acceptance of product quality. 
  • Must have visual and mental ability to identify various products and read and understand instructions, gauges and thermometers. 
  • Performs tasks requiring occasional independent knowledge in addition to procedures or specific instructions provided. 
  • Must be capable of understanding instructions, oral and written, and reading notices and work schedules as posted on the Bulletin Board.
