Job TitlePlant Accountant
The overall intent of this position within our department is to establish a training ground for the development of divisional accounting staff.
The overall objectives of this position are as follows:
Responsible for plant accounting and reporting of operating variances for the High Density Fiberboard (HDF) manufacturing plants. This will include communicating and driving results at the plant level.
This position will be a key business partner of plant management and the divisional industrial engineer for HDF manufacturing.
Indirect supervision of production control clerk. This position will be challenged with maintaining procedures to verify that adequate controls and efficient processes are in place for this function.
Ensure updated and proper accounting procedures are being followed and search for better methods that will improve financial support at the plant level.
Prepare weekly and monthly journal entries, financial analysis and reporting.
Supervise the activities of the production control clerk.
Communicate with people at various levels within our company and employees of outside companies.
Support manufacturing as needed with analyses and reports.
Do special projects as assigned by the manager.
Four year business degree. At least two years of experience preferred.
Knowledge of cost and general accounting principles, methods, and applications.
Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.
Knowledge of work sheet software to illustrate complex financial data.
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and ability to work with detail.
Must be able to work well with people at all levels within the company.
Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and procedures in a manner easily understood by others.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Ability to work well with a diverse group of people at various levels within and outside the company.
Ability to make recommendations for ways to improve the work procedures.
Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Ability to recognize problems and to offer possible solutions.
Must be able to work effectively in stressful environment.
