Unit RN Manager:
  • As the Unit RN Manager you will provide care to assigned residents in a caring, safe and efficient manner.
  • The Unit RN Manager is responsible to perform the following according to location standards, procedures and individualized resident care plans.
  • Unit RN Manager will provide direction and leadership to nursing staff.
  • Unit Register Nurse Manager will be responsible for the overall functions of the unit.

Registered Nurse Duties include:
  • Completes comprehensive nursing assessment of all residents on admission and on an ongoing basis according to state and federal regulations using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention and evaluation).
  • Demonstrates competence in clinical skills as identified on Competency Verification and Training Checklist.
  • Assures assigned residents receive ordered medication, treatments and other procedures within defined time frames, utilizing appropriate infection control procedures.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered.
  • Obtains equipment / supplies to provide care as needed.
  • Assures procedures are followed for pressure ulcers, dehydration, malnutrition, incontinence, pain and medication administration.
  • Accurately completes glucometer testing and control monitoring according to procedure. Implements specific approaches to deal with behavior, enhances residents' mood state according to resident care plan.
  • Assures resident care for assigned residents is completed through reviewing documentation and updating as necessary.
  • Uses the EMR accurately. Documents actions and notations for all resident condition changes according to policy and
    procedure. Documents all actions taken related to admission, discharge, transfers or death.
  • Documents incidents or accidents in resident record and all necessary forms (incident reports, etc.) Completes behavior documentation according to policy and procedure.
  • Completes seven-day observation tool. Assists/participates in quality improvement process, including audits and
    corrective procedures as assigned.
  • May complete the assigned portions of the MDS for Nursing and sign the MDS forms to signify completion of the process.
  • Assures physician's orders are processed and physicians notified in a timely manner.
  • Makes rounds with physicians as assigned. Attends or obtains resident report prior to beginning shift.
  • Receives and shares information; observes and reports residents' conditions.
  • Responds promptly to resident call lights.
  • Directs and assists with resident, family/significant other education. Notifies family on condition changes etc. Reports / assures timely follow up of signs / symptoms of resident infections.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR:

Orientation / Training:
  1. Assure staff receive sufficient training and orientation to perform their work duties.
  2. Develops / coordinates / assists with instruction in general orientation if appropriate.
  3. Assures all staff complete required orientation topics before their begin work in their department; assures
    all employees receive a comprehensive orientation that covers all required topics per GSS policy, procedures, orientation checklists and law, and assures that all employees training checklists and on-the-job orientation is completed
    within 30 days after starting work in their area.
  4. Assures all volunteers, students and other allied staff receive appropriate orientation.
  5. Verifies the skills and competency of staff on at least an annual basis.

Planning:
  1. Assesses learning needs; proposes a staff education budget.
  2. Develops a written plan that addresses identified training needs.
  3. Establishes an annual calendar that includes all required GSS and federal and state mandated training topics /
    certification training.
  4. Communicates in-service / online training in advance.
  5. Utilizes lesson plans with measurable objectives for any instructor led educational offerings.
  6. Utilizes online courses as part of annual staff development calendar per the location's online training strategy.

Administration / Implementation:
  1. Establishes / maintains a resource center and library of training materials; utilizes resource library through National Campus.
  2. Assists staff to locate materials.
  3. Develops or arranges training that is appropriate for adult learners; conducts / coordinates or makes all arrangements for training such as computer access, room, refreshments, speakers, audio/visual etc.
  4. Assures career lattice information is available to staff.
  5. Coordinates or tracks training in the Learning Center.
  6. Provides individuals and/or teams with direction, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
  7. Coaches and mentors staff to ensure that training is applied.
  8. Trains others to coach and mentor knowledge and skills.
  9. Monitors and reports on annual training compliance throughout the year.

Evaluation:
  1. Evaluates training by gathering staff input regarding quality of training offered, implementing/maintaining system to assess training effectiveness and outcome measurements.
  2. Provides at least a quarterly report to CQI on Staff Development and training compliance.

Qualifications

Unit RN Manager:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • RN licensure for state of Idaho is required.
  • Prior work experience in like or related position may be helpful.
  • Ability to communicate and comprehend.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing skills; knowledge and familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered.


Staff Development Coordinator:



Education Experience Licensure Certification: Minimum of one year background in working with older adults or long-term health care is highly preferred; ideal candidate is a licensed nurse or college graduate in human resources, education, or related field with a commitment to ongoing education.

Skills/Abilities:
Must be self-motivated, extremely organized and have good planning abilities.

Knowledge: Knowledge of state and federal regulations is highly desired.
