Project Engineer- Remediation

Join a global professional services leader and take your engineering career to a new level! We are committed to solving the world’s biggest challenges in the areas of water, energy and urbanization! GHD is looking for a Mid-Level Remediation Engineer to join our team in the greater Seattle-Tacoma area. You will coordinate and perform engineering and project management tasks for a variety of environmental remediation and civil projects. This position is an integral part of our Contamination Assessment and Remediation (CAR) business group and requires a diverse array of skills and responsibilities. In addition, you will be part of the Remediation Engineering Design Discipline (RemEDD) team of senior engineers and technical specialists that support GHD’s Western Region.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Management and analysis of remediation system operational data
  • Permit compliance tracking and reporting
  • Occasional fieldwork to collect remediation system samples and perform operation and maintenance of remediation systems
  • Fieldwork planning and coordination of subcontractors during drilling, excavating, trenching, system construction, etc.
  • Perform engineering evaluation and optimization of existing remediation systems
  • Preparing proposals, acquiring permits, and tracking budgets and schedules
  • Bid preparation, contractor selection, and contracting/procurement
  • Perform design calculations, prepare drawings/specifications, and prepare estimates for remediation systems and other civil design projects
  •  
  • Report writing including engineering feasibility studies, remedial action plans, constructability analyses, and pilot test work plans and results reports, and system status reports

The ideal candidate would have the following skills:

  • Ability to perform occasional field work and travel overnight
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and AutoDesk CADD preferred
  • Understanding of Washington state and local oversight requirements for site cleanup
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, hard-working, and have strong written and technical skills
  • Dedication to safety utilizing a behavior based safety (BBS) culture in all aspects of the job

Requirements:

  • 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer registration in State of Washington preferred
  • 5 to 10 years of related experience, including the management, investigation, design, operations, maintenance, and monitoring of environmental remediation and civil projects
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred
