Job Description

Job Summary

The Region Quality Supervisor identifies and assists with the resolution of quality issues related to the prevention of cargo claims. He/She provides direction to service centers within the region to support the Four Key Focus Areas of profitable revenue growth, service, cost control, and yield improvement. This position accomplishes results through the supervision, planning, organizing, and direction of company and regional quality and claims prevention initiatives. The Region Quality Supervisor conducts audits on Overages, Shortages, and Damages (OS&D) procedures. He/She assists in regional training related to quality issues. This position supervises specialists.

The Region Quality Supervisor provides leadership in each of the four key focus areas to ensure achievement of results. He/She conducts random on-site audits of OS&D procedures within the region to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. This position conducts random audits of delivery exceptions for completeness to ensure compliance with company requirements. The Region Quality Supervisor resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork. He/She supervises regional compliance of OS&D training and assists in its coordination and instruction to increase knowledge and effectiveness.

Other Duties

  • Interprets, implements, and enforces service center work instructions to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Manages and implements security and loss prevention procedures to maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the investigation of claims to identify the cause and implement prevention plans and procedures accordingly.
  • Prepares and submits financial and operational reports to provide current information.

  • Generates reports to assist in identifying quality and compliance improvement, corrective actions, and resolution.
  • Performs detailed analysis to identify quality measurements (e.g., deliveries per exception, exception frequency, shipments charged, etc.).
  • Prepares and implements action plans to ensure the region achieves quality and claims prevention goals.
  • Prepares and submits action plans to gain consensus and achieve desired results.
  • Assists service centers in the development and implementation of action plans to address accounts with a history of high cargo claims expenses.

  • Conducts Research: Uses the research problem to guide relevant data gathering and benchmarking; develops a working knowledge of literature related to the research problem; minimizes personal biases that may impact the research process or outcomes; gathers data that represent all sides of the business case.
  • Detail Orientation: Distinguishes between “big picture” concepts and comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; notes the specifics of events and experiences; explains, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensures that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail.
  • Freight Forwarding Operations Knowledge: Demonstrates a detailed understanding of processes, procedures, and technology for intermodal transportation; identifies root causes of recurring issues within freight forwarding operations; describes the general structure of freight forwarding operations.
  • Incident Investigation: Describes types of incidents; demonstrates basic knowledge of requirements for initiating an investigation of incidents; describes the procedures followed for investigating incidents.
  • Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance Knowledge: Applies knowledge of agencies' functions and regulations to compliance and enforcement activities; identifies routine situations where the organization may be out of compliance as well as the specific impacts of non-compliance.
  • Quality Assurance Knowledge: Makes minor adjustments to test plans; recognizes the importance of quality assurance to the business; identifies conditions that impede that quality assurance process.
  • Solicits and Gathers Information: Uses in-depth techniques to uncover new information or details that are not readily available; selects techniques and strategies that are appropriate for the audience; chooses techniques that result in more accurate and thorough information; implements strategies that minimize biases and preconceived ideas.
  • Solves Customer Problems: Involves other functional groups in complex issues; develops creative or resourceful approaches to resolving issues; identifies potential issues before they occur; keeps customer engaged and motivated despite difficult circumstances or setbacks.
  • Technology Knowledge: Recognizes the basic impact of technology on UPS business, services, and processes; identifies technological barriers in achieving desired objectives; maintains appropriate breadth and depth of technological knowledge for current work assignment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) or be a current UPS employee with three years of UPS experience- Preferred
  • Experience in Conducting Customer Analysis- Preferred
