Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices and peripheral stents Our location in Temecula, CA or Santa Clara currently has an opportunity for a Senior Design/Product Development Engineer

Job Purpose:

Under general direction, has duties of instructing and checking the work of other design engineers. Responsible for designing new products and processes and improving and maintaining existing products. Evaluation of designs using Finite Element Analysis (FEA).  Good understanding of biomechanics to design and develop clinically relevant test methods and analysis tools.


  • May conduct design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable.

  • Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion.

  • May act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects.

  • This is a non-supervisory position.

  • FEA for on-market and new products.

  • Design and develop test methods/models and analytical tools to evaluate the relevant biomechanical attributes of each product.



Master or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering / Bioengineering, with over 7 years relevant work experience with use of FEA on implantable devices.  Sufficient understanding of Human Anatomy and ability to translate biomechanical requirements to device design.  Experience mapping user needs onto design requirements and breaking down broad design requirements into individual design elements.  Sufficient understanding of how materials, dimensions, and mechanical elements contribute individually and in concert to influence overall device performance.  Ability to summarize and communicate results from complex FEA analyses in a clear, actionable manner to technical and non-technical management. Experience working in a quality system environment.  Experience with FDA and medical device development preferred.
