Guardian Life Sacramento, CA (On Site) Full-Time
As **Head of Claims Shared Services, Group Benefits** you will establish a function accountable for designing and executing upon a strategic transformation, optimization, and modernization journey for the Claims organization across Group Benefits. You will establish the ongoing infrastructure and foundational capabilities necessary to enable a market-leading Claims organization that will execute upon Guardian's objective of driving scalable, sustainable industry leading practices facilitating improved claims outcomes, best-in-class customer experience and profitable revenue growth.

You report directly to the Head of Claims, Group Benefits and will lead an organization that includes training, quality assurance, appeals, best practices, disability clinical and claims resolutions.

**You Will**

+ Refine and realign our Claims organization to drive consistency in enabling best in class practices, training quality, proficiency standards, and further enable automation and improvement in execution within your organization to improve claim outcomes

+ Work with the Head of Claims Management to help drive efficiencies within each claims team

+ Hire, train and development staff including building the best practice organization and hiring a Head of Clinical Disability

+ Provide leadership as liaison to the client management and sales during the sales, implementation and post-sale processes

In addition, you will install a team structure and champion a culture focused on:

**You Have**

+ BA or equivalent work experience, MBA preferred.

+ 10+ years of leadership positions in Insurance industry with relevant experience preferably in claims management.

+ Highly effective negotiation and influencing skills.

+ Analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.

+ Creativity and thought leadership, comfortable with developing newly enhanced programs and structure, versus maintaining status quo.

+ Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships, influence others and work effectively in a matrixed organization.

+ Possess proven and effective leadership qualities and skills, executive presence, and the ability to express and defend ideas and concepts.

+ Ability to thrive, operate and influence in an environment of change.

+ Excellent and resourceful relationship manager with the ability to influence and negotiate desired business outcomes.

+ Proven leadership skills and management experience with an ability to recruit, develop, inspire and retain an impactful organization, and effectively deal with various personalities; this should involve a strong track record of continual performance improvement within the team.


+ The primary location for this position is remote with frequent travel multiple locations as needed.

Salary Range: $226,100 - $284,700

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
