Job Description

Our Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems organization at Raytheon Intelligence & Space provides the joint warfighter with actionable information from an unblinking eye across the battlespace. By joining our ISRS Engineering team you'll have the opportunity to design, develop and test product capabilities for Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars, integrated sensor suites, precision targeting, multispectral EO/IR targeting systems, Pilot Situational Awareness, Special Mission Aircraft and Strategic and Tactical ISR Systems.

The Radio Frequency (RF) and Special Mission Aircraft (SMA) Department is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer/Structural Analyst. The qualified candidate will have extensive experience in structural analysis and testing of airborne structures and will be responsible for detailed structural analysis to support all phases of programs including development and production. The analysis tasks will span the spectrum from classical hand analyses to detailed analyses requiring the use of finite element analysis software. In addition, the structural analyst is expected to have a high degree of technical competence and be a recognized technical leader and/or leader of teams of engineering analysts.

The selected candidate will work under only general direction and will be expected to define the scope and level of analysis to meet required objectives and assist in program planning. The structural analyst will be held accountable for completing their work and the work of others on their team within the agreed upon cost and schedule. The candidate will be expected to present their work for peer reviews and to be a peer reviewer for other engineers' work. The customers of this position will include internal personnel and programs as well as external Government(s) personnel and programs. The selected candidate will work with the customer and engineering leadership to define testing required to validate structural analyses and to verify that hardware is compliant with requirements.

You're highly skilled in:

+ Performing hand calculations to determine scope of higher detail analysis models

+ Performing detailed analysis to solve diverse program structural challenges

+ Performing peer reviews of analyses to validate process and results

+ Delivering results to customers (internal and external)

+ Acting as a technical leader and/or lead analysis/test teams

+ Structural analysis using FEA software

+ Understanding of mechanical principles to solve classical structural analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite analysis tools.

+ Proficiency with engineering workstations running Windows and Office suite.

+ Ability to work as needed on-site at a Raytheon facility

+ MS or BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 8 years of professional experience performing structural analysis.

Required Educations:

+ Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mechanical or Aerospace (Electrical Engineering) BS minimum of 8+ years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulation, Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

You're a great match with:

+ Working knowledge of Abaqus FEA

+ 8 or more years of experience of structural analysis of complex systems that require collaboration of multiple engineering disciplines

+ Demonstrated experience in structural testing: planning, organization, execution, data reduction, and correlation

+ Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities, typically less than 15%

+ Experience as a technical leader and/or leader of engineering teams.

+ Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

+ May have broad knowledge of project management. Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area.
