Admissions Customer Service Representative and Processor

Carson-Newman University Carson, CA (Onsite) Full-Time

Job Title: Admissions Customer Service Representative & Processor

Department: Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Reports To: Director of Undergraduate Admissions

FLSA Status: Full-time, 12-months; hourly

Time Requirements: Approx. 37.5-40 hours per week

Summary Description: The Admissions Customer Service Representative & Processor is responsible for assisting visitors, responding to inquiries via email, on the phone and face to face, and providing information about the University to customers inquiring about C-N and to the general public. This position will also serve as a processor and will oversee the entering of transcripts, test scores, and any other information that is pertinent to a student’s application file.

Functional Description:

  • As an intentionally Christian academic community, Christian employees are hired to advance the mission of Carson-Newman as expressed in our strategic plan Acorns to Oaks.
  • Answer main Admissions phone, screen, and direct calls (take and relay messages as needed).
  • Greet and tend to all visitors entering the Office of Admissions (direct to correct destinations if necessary).
  • Pick up mail daily from Fite Administration Building, sort, and deliver to appropriate person.
  • Deliver enrollment fees daily to One Stop Office.
  • Update Birthdates in Slate and Datatel from Variance Report from FA.
  • Make sure Maples Coffee House coupons and meal tickets are available at all times.
  • Overseer of the general Admissions email account (checks account daily and forwards emails appropriately).
  • Process paper and electronic transcripts in an efficient and detail-oriented manner
  • Maintain organization of reception area and meeting rooms.
  • General administrative and clerical support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education: Minimum high school diploma required.

Required Skills:

  • Collaborative work style
  • Ability to share the university’s mission candidly, passionately, and genuinely

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience as a professional receptionist
  • Understanding of traditional undergraduate admissions cycle and process
  • Basic understanding of federal and/or state financial aid

Due to the requirement to assist with recruitment events on and off campus, Admissions team members should be able to lift and move 25lbs (brochures, etc.).
