Enterprise Data Warehouse Engineer

This position reports to the Director, Enterprise Data Warehouse and, is responsible for design, development, testing, and documentation and production support of integration solutions for ETL Methodologies using software tools such as Informatica and/or PL/SQL as well as data migration to internal and external systems and integration to enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, SAP, SAS and enterprise data warehouses. Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle to implement highly complex applications/technology solutions. Establish and maintain system, department and industry standards/best practices. Design ETL applications, scripts, queries, reports and other automated procedures. Interact with business partners in a support role. Participate in technical design, problem identification/resolution, and other support activities. Participate in creation and execution of unit and integration testing. Propose continuous improvements regarding technologies and processes in order to increase organizational efficiency and application effectiveness and performance. Lead in data quality architectural review sessions to ensure compliance with direction and standards. Support existing warehouses/database as well as continually re-evaluate current processes and techniques for increased accuracy, efficiency and maintainability. Analyze application, quality and data integration problems, solutions and recommend corrective actions. Provide support for production ETL processes.

Support

  • Work closely with users, business analysts, systems analysts, and application developers to define and resolve information requirements, data flow and data content/quality issues.
Influence
  • Lead/participate in data quality architectural review sessions to ensure compliance with direction and standards.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle to implement highly complex applications/technology solutions. Establish and maintain system, department and industry standards/best practices.

Drive
  • Transform business requirements into environment specific rule-set and data validation designs (conceptual logical and physical architecture).
  • Design and develop ETL jobs, scheduling and monitoring.
  • Create documentation using data flow diagrams, rule-sets/thresholds, and ETL mappings.
  • Analyze application, quality and data integration problems, solutions and recommend corrective action
Manage
  • Design ETL applications, scripts, queries, reports and other automated procedures. Interact with business partners in a support role.
Maintain
  • Adheres to all points of the creed.
Equivalent Education Level Required: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in CIS, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical field and 6 years of ETL development and implementation.

Also requires the following experience (which may have been obtained concurrently)

Experience Required: 5+ years of of proven experience in Integrated Data Movement Strategy, Design and Implementation in support of a complex System Migration project utilizing Data Planning, Design and Migration experience. 5 years of system analysis experience. 4 years in data governance, stewardship and/or metadata. 3 years working with enterprise data warehouse projects using tools like Informatica. 1 year with financial or other relevant industry vertical experience.

Knowledge Required: Strong Understanding of RDBMS concepts and extensive hands on experience w/ Oracle PL/SQL development; Good understanding of Data warehousing project life cycle, especially tasks within the ETL phase; Extensive experience in performance tuning Informatica ETL jobs; Demonstrated ability to implement scalable ETL processes; Ability to work independently and multi-task to meet critical deadlines in a rapidly changing environment; Knowledge of finance and accounting processes; Performance tuning and monitoring applications and databases; ETL Certifications; Installation, integration and implementation of software for ETL Toolsets; Production Support for ETL Toolsets. Excellent written and verbal communications skills as would be needed to communicate in person, by phone, and through email; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to read, write, evaluate, and apply information. Ability to interact professionally and exhibit appropriate social skills. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products. Ability to develop and maintain business relationships.
