Seeking an analytically minded and capable individual to lead a team of 6 buyers and 4 warehousing and receiving personnel. This individual will be responsible for managing the day-to-day performance of the tactical/execution arm of the supply chain team, and be a key team member in designing the future supply chain of the company. The Purchasing Manager will focus on optimizing inventory levels and the supply chain planning processes to deliver the best service to our customers with the greatest amount of flexibility and minimal inventory. The ideal candidate must have a mindset of continuous improvement and problem solving. Advanced data analytics are highly valued, and team based mentality is necessary. Experience with logistics is a plus. This role could be considered a manager/analyst.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
SUPPORT MANUFACTURING
By managing staff; managing the supply base
MAINTAIN PURCHASING STAFF
By recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities; distributing challenges and workload appropriately across the team
ACCOMPLISH STAFF RESULTS
By communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, implementing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures related to purchasing & supply chain management
SUSTAIN COMPETITIVE MATERIAL PRICING
By evaluating and negotiating material costs; discovering new sources; developing partnerships with strategic suppliers
PROCURE MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES
By establishing optimum inventory levels & reorder quantities together with manufacturing planning; BOM accuracy; contributing to and executing sourcing strategies
MINIMIZE MATERIAL TRANSPORTATION COSTS
By coordinating local supplier warehousing, selecting and maintaining transportation and consolidation vendors: managing inventory to avoid costly expedite fees.
MANAGE THE SUPPLY BASE
By driving periodic Review Meetings between ASSA ABLOY and it most strategic suppliers; contributing to Sourcing strategies, interfacing with supply base to manage thru contract and quality issues
PREPARE REPORTS AND MANAGING INDICATORS
By consolidating, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
MAINTAIN PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
By attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices
CONTRIBUTE TO TEAM EFFORT
By using und supporting the Kaizen breakthrough methodology; using a participative management style; leading by example; taking full responsibility & accountability; being a good facilitator; and being an unconditional supporter of Continuous Improvement
EFFECTIVELY MANAGE A TEAM
By directly supervising employees in the purchasing department; performing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of all MS Office applications, especially Excel; MRP systems; knowledge of Visual. Manufacturing MRP software preferred but not essential.
Other Skills: Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills; good understanding of profit & loss; capable of interacting on all business levels
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a business or technical discipline is REQUIRED. 5+ years of experience in a supply chain planning environment. An MBA is preferred but not required.
