General Description:
  • Looking for someone with insurance domain experience.
  • P&C experience, insurance product launch and/or personal lines is a plus
  • This is a junior level project manager 
  • The Junior Project Manager is responsible for successfully overseeing the detailed day-to-day tasks within the Personal Lines Business area applying project management competencies within and across individual business initiatives. This position requires significant collaboration with other CPI business departments, IT and other outside parties.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the various areas to ensure proper coordination of business working teams. Develop strong working relationships which enable the early identification of issues and collaborative solutions.
  • Wherever appropriate, recommend process improvements to prevent redundant work flows and identify and recommend changes/efficiencies to assigned projects.
  • In accordance with business priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, including:
  • Participate in planning task determination;
  • Determine the order of and manage dependencies across project streams
  • Assist in managing the project pipeline (sequencing, resourcing, etc.);
  • Preparation and utilization of traditional project management tools, such as risk assessments/mitigation plans, issues list, 'parking lot' lists, etc.
Project Management:
  • Collaboratively determine tasks and timelines by developing and managing detailed project plans
  • Utilize standard project management tools (waterfall and agile) for task planning and execution tracking, and reporting;
  • Utilize proven project management methods and strategies (waterfall and agile) to collect and convey information from/to business project participants;
  • Prepare management/milestone summaries and status reports;
  • Partner with the appropriate areas and outside vendors to ensure that the individual components of the project plan fit into a cohesive whole;
  • Be accountable for monitoring business project status and reporting key milestones and potential delays to key stakeholders;
  • Drive execution per established project plans;
  • Ensure consistent execution of the business processes across all projects,
  • Collaboratively determine how to deliver projects on time, and within budget, while minimizing adverse impacts;
  • Oversee task execution for all business activities including planning, proposal development, and implementations;
  • Perform risk assessments for business centric activities and overall project activities.
  • Oversee maintenance of documentation
Problem solving:
  • Reduce the probabilities of problems though proactive approaches (e.g. risk assessments and action plans);
  • Provide recommendations by reviewing issues logs, action plans, scheduling, and resourcing;
  • Play a key role in collaboratively resolving problems in a win-win manner that arise in projects;
  • Negotiate/adjust the schedules to meet target goals;
  • Communication:
  • Participate in and where appropriate, lead priority setting and status meetings;
  • Participate in Steering Committee, Sponsor, and other operating and governance meetings as needed
  • Provide detailed status/progress reporting (e.g. weekly)

Desired Qualifications:
Project Management Capabilities:
  • 5 years of project managment / coordination 
  • 5  years of P&C / Insurance domain experience 
  • Superior project management skills, including application of project management techniques that balance the theoretical with the practical
  • Ability to prioritize and execute several tasks simultaneously, and experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Vendor relationship management a plus
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • 'Hands On' expertise with MS Project and Excel 
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) (e.g. PMP) certification a plus
