Job Summary

Assist in the conduct and implementation of longitudinal observational clinical research within the Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center. Current research involves adults, particularly elderly populations, including healthy control subjects and individuals with cognitive changes (mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease). Studies routinely include multimodality data collection, including structural and functional MRI, PET scans, neurocognitive assessment, abstraction of medical history, blood draw and cerebrospinal fluid collection, and genetic analysis.

This position requires strict adherence to IRB protocols and to the rules of all regulatory bodies that govern procedures used by the Principal Investigator and research team. It also requires adherence to internal policies and procedures. Decision-making abilities and strong leadership skills are required to identify immediate problems that affect study outcome and determining best course of action in conjunction with the leadership of the core and the Principal Investigator.

The incumbent will solicit, respond to and assess research study patients with a high level of independence. This incumbent will help develop and implement protocols, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining study data and files in compliance with the rules regulations from the funding organizations, regulatory agencies, and clinical research practices established within the department.

This position requires an exceptional level of attention to detail and the ability to conduct repetitive tasks consistently and with high quality assurance as well as strong problem solving skills and ability to multitask. Scope applies to all internally and externally funded projects the Principal Investigator and Program Manager deem appropriate.

The position will secure, facilitate and manage relationships with research study participants with hereditary dementing illnesses. This position will maintain consistent contact with study members, their families, healthcare providers, researchers, external funding sources, and external healthcare facilities.

The incumbent will assist in the development of and be responsible for the implementation of standardized policies and operating procedures pertaining to the management of the research subjects involved in the research studies she/he is coordinating. Study data will be accurately and meticulously maintained to ensure compliance with study protocol and all regulations.

Consistent and ongoing education and review of regulatory changes and study compliance requirements is required in order to mitigate risk to the IADC and Indiana University.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in science or a health-related field and one year of health-related/research experience; OR any bachelor's degree/associate's degree in Allied Health professions and three years of health-related/similar research experience or two years of experience in clinical research.

Ability to use a computer, including basic word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to use the phone and ability to interact with research subjects, including patient populations and their families. Strong organizational abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical Research Certification.

Working Conditions / Demands

Mobility throughout the building and campus. Sitting at a desk for long periods of time. Computer/phone use.
