Financial Accounting Analyst

Total Wine Bethesda, MD (Onsite) Full-Time
We are looking for a Financial Analyst / Accounting Analyst to join our Finance department onsite in Bethesda, MD. You who will be a focal point within the finance organization to help provide and ensure the integrity of accounting information. You will report directly to the Manager of Accounting Analytics and support the Chief Accounting Officer in engaging with other departments in budgeting, analysis, and forecasting of selected expenses and in the development, generation, and maintenance of system-based and ad hoc financial reports, models, and analyses.

You will

* Participate in the proper accounting for non-payroll-related transactions/expenditures and GL Account Reconciliations
* Use several tools (MS Excel, Access, Lawson) to fulfill mission.
* Design, maintain, and generate financial reports in Excel, using data obtained from our Enterprise Data Systems and General Ledger Systems
* Source raw data from different internal systems to help perform important and ad-hoc analyses.
* Perform research and analysis of company expense activities, especially non-payroll overhead.
* Help prepare budgets and forecasts and the reporting of actual results, analyzing variances against same
* Support month-end closing, through analysis of preliminary results
* Help interpret financial transactions and events to support information users and decision makers.
* Assist in Sales and Use Tax Related Matters
* Provide support to FP&A during preparation of upcoming year budget.
* Leverage skills such as SQL, Python, VBA, etc. to lead development of process automation and create time efficiencies.
* Other ad-hoc reports and analysis as assigned.

You will come with

* 3+years of experience in accounting or financial analysis
* Experience in a retail environment or multi-location services environment preferred.
* Experience querying information from an Enterprise Data system.
* Experience in cost savings initiatives.
* MBA and/or CPA a plus
* Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
* Beginner to Intermediate SQL, Python, VBA, PowerBI skills are highly preferred.
