Our Life and Group Transformation practice helps insurance clients improve and transform their life/annuity, group benefits, and retirement services businesses in areas such as operating model redesign, process improvement, technology enablement, organizational design, M&A due diligence and post-merger integration. We work across the value chain from sales to service and claims.

The opportunity

We currently are seeking a highly motivated Senior Consultant to join EY engagement teams, deliver consulting services and develop business with our clients: the largest providers of life insurance, group benefits and retirement. Our rapidly growing Life and Group Insurance Transformation practice helps our clients to reimagine, modernize and disrupt how they succeed in the market and create long-term, sustainable value.

In this role, you will help our clients achieve their desired goals and business objectives. You will gain exposure in all areas of the insurance value chain including, but not limited to: product development, sales/distribution, new business/underwriting, policy administration, and claims.

Your key responsibilities

  • Support large scale, multi-phase programs and projects helping our clients achieve business outcomes from strategy through activation.
  • Consistently deliver high quality client services.
  • Understand / communicate complex operational insurance issues and establish relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels.
  • Monitor progress, manage risk, and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about engagement progress and expected outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of current industry trends relevant to the client's business.
  • Understand process design and industry pain points.
  • Demonstrate in-depth domain knowledge, technical capabilities, and ability to assimilate new knowledge and possess good business acumen.
  • Present industry and client key findings to leadership.
  • Remain current on new developments in consulting services capabilities and industry knowledge.
  • Stay informed of and apply professional standards and firm policies.
  • Commit to developing a strong personal brand by staying informed regarding economic/market developments and their impact on the firm's clients.
  • Contribute to a top tier team and firm wide culture.

To qualify for this role you must have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Economics, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of consulting and/or industry experience in life insurance, annuities, retirement or group benefits.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including executive presentation skills.
  • Experience assessing and improving business processes, systems, and associated technologies.
  • Understanding of Insurance and Annuities products and the operations processing lifecycle.
  • Experience documenting business processes related to insurance operations.
  • Experience with one or more of the following business functions: product development, sales/distribution, new business, underwriting, post issue servicing policy administration and/or claims.
  • Travel to client site as necessary.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Economics or related disciplines.

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $96,300 to $176,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $115,500 to $200,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
