Deduction Analyst

Overview

The principal and customary work of the Deduction Analyst consists of performing financial functions according to general accounting and financial reporting methods and procedures within stated deadlines.  Additionally, the Analyst should be able to collaborate with company personnel and outside sales reps to obtain needed backup and should be able to understand sales programs for following through with customers to a final resolution including issuance of a credit memo if warranted.



Responsibilities

  • Communicate in writing or by telephone with customers effectively on credit related matters including pursuit of delinquent receivables and deduction resolution across multiple sales channels.
  • Complete credit investigations and analyses including gathering, analyzing, and interpreting various sources of information for determining and prudently extending a line of credit.
  • Enter credit memos into AR.
  • Assist and complete work for other AR associates as required or specified by supervisor.
  • Prepare and analyze basic or ad hoc reports in response to supervisor request and in order to maximize daily credit and collection work productivity.
  • Conduct financial analysis and sales program analysis.
  • Contribute as a team member in department initiatives directed at continuous improvement; implement and support process changes within department.
  • Review existing processes, and identify areas for improved accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete special projects or perform other work related tasks as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications

  • Two plus years of experience in business with concentration of work in credit and collections; experience in a corporate shared services environment preferred
  • College degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred
  • Deduction and collection experience with a diverse group of customers including mass merchant and sporting goods retailers, wholesalers, industrial manufacturers, military, and small, privately owned companies
  • Experience with interpreting reports from leading credit reporting firms
  • High energy, dynamic personality and strong work ethic. Desire and actual demonstration to go to the next level. 
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
