Assistant Youth Director (Youth Girls)

The Assistant Youth Director is a position for leadership, shepherding, and discipleship of the young women of our youth ministry. This position involves leading and training our youth ministry volunteers, developing relationships with the parents of Southwood, discipling our students, planning and coordinating youth events and retreats, and regularly praying for the students of High-Life, volunteers, and the city of Huntsville.

1. Building discipleship relationships with students
2. Helping lead our student leadership team (Crew)
3. Teaching in various youth and church contexts (Sunday school, Youth group, etc)
4. Partnering with and leading our adult volunteers
5. Praying for students, parents, volunteers, Southwood, and our community
6. Planning, organizing, and executing youth events, retreats, service, outreach, mission trips, etc.
7. Coordinating and leading small groups for students
8. Personal and Spiritual development in conjunction with the Youth and Families Pastor and other staff
9. Leading and training Summer college interns

1. A growing relationship with Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord
2. A love for the varying people of God in Christ’s church
3. Commitment to the gospel as well as practical disciplines and lifestyle that pursues Christ
4. A heart for serving others and a teachable heart
5. Passion for loving and caring for students, particularly a heart for girl’s discipleship
6. A desire to build unity and teamwork among the Youth staff and greater church staff
7. A heart for prayer in all aspects of personal and professional life
8. A personal desire for regular personal accountability with other women
9. A teachable heart for consistently growing in their competencies of practical ministry skills
10. Willing to become a communing member of Southwood

Southwood is a member of the PCA that seeks to advance the Kingdom of God as we experience and express grace in relationships that impact eternity. Those three key relationships are: our relationship with God, one another, and our neighbors. High-Life is the Junior High School and Senior High School student ministries of Southwood Presbyterian Church. High-Life Ministries exists as a direct response to the covenant community’s baptismal vows and Christ’s Great Commission. Our ministry is a discipleship partnership with families and works to train our students, parents, leaders, and all members in the work of sharing the gospel so that our students grow into mature lifelong followers of Christ. High-Life Ministries derives its name from Ephesians 2:6, “Heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” It is the idea that as believers we are unified with Christ, and we are seated with him in the heavenly realms.
