What You Will Do This position will be filled at either the Engineered Systems Tec 1/Engineered Systems Tec 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. Engineered Systems Tec 1 $42,000 - $64,800 Work as a member of the Technical Area 55 Division, TA55-DO, Process Maintenance and Decontamination Services Group, TA55-PMDS, TA-55 Plant Wide Maintenance and Decon Support Team. The TA-55 Plant Wide Maintenance and Decon Support Team is responsible for performing process maintenance and decontamination efforts at TA-55 and LANL wide per Facility Service Requests (FSRs) or other methods. The selected candidate will primarily mentor with and support the TA-55 Programmatic Maintenance Team activities and cross train with the TA-55 Decontamination Team. They report to a First Line Manager and support preparing, reviewing and working against approved IWDs specific to task and location. Candidate will support the TA55-PMDS Group responsible for corrective and preventative maintenance of programmatic equipment, as well as the decommissioning and demolition of process equipment used in the plutonium facility at TA-55 and CMR. Engineered System Tec 2 $51,200 - $78,700 In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level: Apply established work methods and procedures to perform limited diagnostic checks; and to disassemble, repair, reassemble, and test equipment and components. Uses a variety of typical bench-top equipment and tools. Follow prescribed procedures, locate and diagnose failures or malfunctions, replace defective components, and perform basic troubleshooting . Monitor equipment efficiencies, including the determination of functional problems with test equipment and diagnostic tools. Prepare required installation and/or repair documentation and maintain appropriate maintenance and history logs. Ability to read and understand written or verbal instructions, drawings, layouts, and other related specifications. Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions and recommending solutions on problems affecting a systems and/or equipment. Ability to work independently and as well as collaboratively as part of a team What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: This position will be filled at either the Engineered Systems Tec 1/Engineered Systems Tec 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. * As an entry-level technician, must learn installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of equipment or systems.
* Ability to read and understand written or verbal instructions, drawings, layouts, and other related specifications.
* Must learn skill of conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting systems and/or equipment.
* Must learn skills in the preparation and presentation of systems/equipment reporting.
* Must become familiar with Laboratory's policies, practices, and procedures.
* Must become knowledgeable of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting equipment and systems maintenance and/or engineering.
* Ability to interpret and apply comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of equipment and systems theory and principles.
* Must have the ability to work independently while closely supervised and as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
* Obtain and maintain a Q clearance and HRP Certification.
* obtain and maintain Fissile Material Handlers (FMH) Certification Additional Job Requirements for Engineered Systems Tec 2: In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires: * Ability to work with chemicals, radioactive and hazardous materials
* Experience using a variety of typical bench top equipment and tools
* Experience following directions that are very specific and detailed and can execute work to established procedures for routine work Education/Experience at Level 1: Position typically requires a high school diploma and a minimum 1-2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Education/Experience at Level 2: Position requires a high school diploma and a minimum of three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 426.2 DOE Order: Requires High School Diploma. Training/Certifications: Job specific/site specific required training. Desired Qualifications: * Experience using basic test equipment and measuring devices
* Experience developing solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity.
* Maintains appropriate maintenance and repair logs
* Collaborates with others as required to support safety, security and reliability of equipment

Additional Details Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations. 426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
