Solicits, develops and estimates technical specification projects, provides budgets and provides management assistance as time permits for projects to meet customer’s needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Develop project proposals and provide quotations and bids to customers up to the amount
Read blueprints/plans and determine material and labor and other requirements for projects.
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates or bids for each project.
Market to potential and current customers that are in specified market areas.
Determine potential and current customer needs and requirements.
Develop projects to meet customer needs as necessary.
Provide the proper response to customers’ request.
Provide accurate bids or quotations to the customer.
Provide accurate estimates engineering, design and planning information to Project Management.
Perform other estimator, customer and costs responsibilities assigned by the Chief Estimator.
Obtain all project bid packets, specifications and blueprints/plans as necessary.
Meet with Customers and recommend ways, methods and specific construction design to the
customer to formulate estimates to accomplish the work requested.
Perform physical task of layout, measuring, using engineering equipment as needed to
accomplish estimating projects.
Represent the customer to the company when the need arises.
Drive/travel to customers’ locations.
Follow up with Project Management.
Act as Project Manager on specific projects, as time allows.
Manage the project(s) to accomplish company goals.
Determine extra work needs and processing information for such.
Close out project upon completion with Accounting and Operations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor Degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Civil Engineering Technology. A minimum of five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
