Job Description

What You Will Do:

Supervise & coordinate the activities of the Access Representative staff.  Foster employee growth through on-going training & development of a teamwork concept.

  1. Provide training, support and supervison of Access Representative staff.
  2. Provide monthly department edcuation meetings.  Supervise the processing of outpatient testing & Emergency Room registrations; monitors pre-registration duties; oversees inpatient admitting procedures, ensure minimal patient complaints.
  3. Ensure accuracy of data.  Eliminate patient wait times over ten minutes.  Monitor timely completion of insurance verifications and authorization procedures to minimize penalties, denials, and maximize reimbursement.
  4. Ensure 100% of scheduled inpatient and SDS claims are authorized prior to service.
  5. Supervise the functions of the bed assigment, scheduling, and processing of admission reservations.
  6. Implement new procedures resulting from interal changes, changes in Federal & State regulations, thid party payers, monitors staff compliance by utilizing quality assurance techniques.
  7. Discuss policy and procedure changes with staff prior to effective dates. Monitor the collection of registration and admission deposits, deductibles, co-payments, telephone charges and the establishment of payment plans and prepares a monthly report detailing colletion activity to Access Manager.
  8. Perform daily quality assurance audits on randomly selected emergency room, hospital outpatient and inpatient registrations; provide feedback and staff training, prepare a report detailing collection activity to Access Manager.
  9. Assist in registration training program for system upgrades, enhancements, procedural changes and quality assurace training to promote efficient and accurate patient processing, train and orient new staff.
  10. Assist in preparation of staff work schedules, assist in completion of annual staff performance evaluation & disciplinary actions.
  11. Assume responsibility for weekend/holiday call to address proecedural problems and staffing shortages.
  12. Oversee processing of return mail.
  13. Enforce and maintain policies and procedures related to registration services functions and monitor staff compliance.
  14. Communicate critical concerns, accelerates complaints by patients, visitors to Access Manager.
  15. Strive to achieve excellence of service.
  16. Maintain privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information.
  17. Perfom related duties as assigned.


What You Need to Be Successful:

  1. Associate's degree in business or related field
  2. Minimum of two years of registration/admission experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
