Robert Half Finance is searching for an ambitious Controller eager to join the team at a reputable Non-Profit company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. Additionally, you will handle key decisions and challenge, negotiate and influence the team. As a leader, you will encourage innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenge the status quo, and support creativity in your area of responsibility. The full-time Controller position is situated in the San Diego, California area. How you will make an impact - Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis - Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time - Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation - Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies - Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll - Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports - Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management - Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation - Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities - Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team - Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

Job Requirements

- Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field - Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills - Great attention to detail - Ability to meet deadlines - Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred - Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued - Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills - Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds - Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment - Solid understanding of budget forecasting - Command of variance analysis - Foundational knowledge in auditing - Financial statement preparation experience highly desired - Deep understanding of general ledger - Proven knowledge of financial statements consolidation - Well-founded grasp of labor law - General familiarity with contracts
