We have an immediate full-time opening for a Crisis Counselor I for a Call Center position with the Crisis Intervention Service team. This position of Crisis Counselor-Call Center is based from our office located within The Meadows in Centre Hall, PA. This is a Dayshift Crisis Counselor position. The work hours are 8 hours per shift to be scheduled between 7am and 5pm The work schedule does include some weekends and holiday rotations.
Responsibilities of a Crisis Counselor within Call Center include:: Under the administrative supervision of the Director of Crisis Intervention Services; triage and follow up of telephone/mobile mental health crisis intervention, emergency services and walk in assessments. Counselors are professional, empathetic, assertive and detail oriented.
Crisis Counselors engage individuals in verbal de-escalation, crisis resolution, suicide risk assessment and prevention, referral collaboration and supportive counseling.

The position of Crisis Counselor I requires::
-Bachelor's Degree with major course work in sociology, social work psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, nursing, counseling, education or related field or a High School Diploma plus 12 semester credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology or other social sciences OR registered nurse.
-Zero to one (1) year experience in human services of which must be mental health direct care experience in correlation with education according to Pennsylvania Bulletin, volume 23, number 10 dated March 6, 1993.
