Oncology Infusion Nurse is needed at an award winning hospital in Upstate New York. This 120-bed acute care hospital also has a 160-bed extended-care facility (ECF) and short-term rehab facility and is affiliated with a renowned comprehensive research and treatment cancer center. This center was the first in the United States to specifically focus on cancer research.
The Chemotherapy Infusion Nurse will provide direct patient care and assume responsibility for the nursing care of assigned patients. Health teaching and counseling are also an integral part of the role by providing cancer specific/treatment specific education to patients and their families. The Oncology Infusion RN will have the skills and knowledge in implementation: -venous access device protocol -chemotherapy/biotherapy protocols -Medication administration policy -blood transfusion protocol -chemotherapy home infusion protocol -pain management protocol, demonstrates skill and competency in venipuncture, as well.
The core educational requirements for the Oncology Infusion Nurse is a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, a minimum of 2 years recent chemo/infusion experience, ONCC Oncology Nurse Certification preferred, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification – if not, will sit for exam within 3 months, BLS certified, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Strong computer skills with EHR experience, customer service oriented and have the ability to problem solve.
