We are seeking a strong and experienced Human Resources Manager to manage several groups/departments at our Ames, Iowa facility. This site has over 1000 employees in the Power Solutions business segment and is also home to the Application Development Center (ADC). This is an exciting role with deliverables and services that impact the success of the Regional HR team in North America. The HR Manager will drive operational excellence with a strong focus on efficiency, standardization, and cost in our services.

If you are a HR leader with experience in developing and driving HR initiatives at both operational and tactical level, and with experience managing change in a matrixed organization, this is the role for you. This position reports directly to the Sr. HR Manager in Ames, Iowa.

Critical Tasks/Key Responsibilities:
  • As a member of the North America Human Resources Team, drive the implementation of Danfoss HR policies and processes; i.e. – Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Compliance, Compensation and Benefits, etc. in the business unit
  • Serve as the face of HR; act as a HR resource and trusted advisor to employees and managers
  • Ensure that sound human resources practices are being followed in the implementation of HR decisions
  • Support the development and implementation of organization change initiatives
  • Manage the site’s employee relations to include performance issues, on-boarding and the investigation of employee issues
  • Oversee activities to improve employee satisfaction, motivation and engagement in the business
  • Support talent and people development in the business in close collaboration with HR Business Partners in the business unit
  • Contribute towards the development of an employee-oriented company culture that focuses on quality, continuous improvement and high performance
  • Leading or participating in HR projects initiated in the region, possibly across different locations

Business Oriented HR Leader
As the Human Resources Manager you will make a sustainable impact within the Regional HR team. Your key task will consist of driving the implementation of Danfoss HR policies and processes for the business.

Your daily responsibilities will include: Implementation of organizational change initiatives, compliance, stakeholder management, talent acquisition, talent development, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and particular focus on supporting the day to day needs of the business.

You will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees in connection with all HR matters. You must be curious to understand the business’ objectives and be able to analyze how effectively these objectives can be supported from an HR perspective. You will develop talent alongside the HR business partners. You will actively lead or participate in various HR projects. As the face of HR you will engage with managers and employees across all levels of the organization.

We are looking for a candidate who:
  • Translates strategic initiatives into operational/tactical plans
  • Has excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Is diplomatic, sensitive and adaptable to the needs of people from different cultures
  • Has extensive knowledge about US employment laws, affirmative action plans, worker’s compensation and safety
  • Is a relationship builder and team player capable of identifying collaborative solutions to business challenges
  • Has sound understanding of the interrelation of key management/HR processes
  • Has experience in process implementation, change management, leading transformation processes and manage resistance
  • Has knowledge of using organizational metrics in order to take decisions to improve performance in the best interest of the business
  • Identifies and resolves issues independently, will take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances
  • Is resilient and able to deal with resistance
  • Has experience with HRIS systems

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area of Business, Human Resources or other applicable program
  • 5+ years of HR experience serving a business or relevant customer base in a manufacturing environment
  • HR Certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) highly preferred.
  • Leadership and change management experience
  • The ability to translate strategic initiatives into operational/tactical plans
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Diplomat, sensitive and adaptable to the needs of people from different cultures
  • Extensive knowledge in employment laws, affirmative action plans, worker’s compensation and safety
  • Passionate about creating a dynamic and thriving working environment that inspires employees to do their best
  • Relationship builder and team player, capable of identifying collaborative solutions to business challenges

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or other applicable program
  • Experience working with employees and business leaders from remote or virtual sites
  • Experience working in an environment where there is a high need and expectation to work and be effective influencing others (without direct responsibility)
