WORK LOCATION: Various – B&B Water Service Mechanic / Plumber positions require travel throughout the North division locations NJ Transit. The B&B Water Service Mechanic / Plumber is a position in New Jersey Transit Corp Rail Infrastructure’s maintenance operations staff which has the responsibility of performing journeyman level work to maintain our plumbing and other related systems at both indoor and outdoor locations on New Jersey Transit Properties. Candidates must be able to perform all facets of plumbing and associated tasks in accordance with the National Standard Plumbing Code and any State or local codes and regulations. Applicants must also be able to work in a safe, effective, and efficient manner with minimal supervision. Duties include but are not limited to: Inspect, maintain, repair, modify, and install plumbing, heating, water, gas, utility, drainage, and other related systems.Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing and related emergencies.Install pipes, fixtures and mechanicals for water, gas, steam, air, sand, or other systems.Assist other trades personnel when needed. Investigate problems within plumbing and other systems, provide sound recommendations for repair. Be able to perform the necessary functions to restore systems to a good operating order and other NJT plumbing related duties. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 5 years’ fulltime experience with residential and commercial plumbing and repairPresent a valid driver’s license and High School Diploma or GEDDemonstrate thorough knowledge of all aspects of plumbing trade including boiler and HVAC repair and installation.Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to interpret diagrams and blueprintsState plumbing license is preferred but not requiredSuccessfully pass the pre-screening process including drug test, physical, and criminal, employer, and driving background checks This is a Unionized position.
