Job Description

Summary of Job:

Works with Fathers age 16 and over in the community and in jail to help them become sefl-sufficient, financially responsible, improve their relationships with their children, and assist them in developing effective communication. Provides assessments and linkages to supportive services for participants; Develop individual goal sheets with participants; Coordinates employment and housing support; assists participant with contacting community providers for needed services. Implement the Family Wellness curriculum; Teach life skills. Assist with the fidelity of the recovery coach model utilized at Centerstone and work through the process of implementing recovery coaching/ care coordination for the grant; May participate in setting goals and plans with clients to reduce or abstain from substance use and to learn replacement behaviors. Provides assessment and helps participants identify career paths; Provides individual vocational and pre-vocational supportive counseling to assist participants in establishing career goals; Conducts engagement activities; Supports access to and retention in job training, education, and employment; Provides employment support and skills training. Provides reasonable accommodations and utilize translation and/or interpreter services when needed; helps identify and carry out action steps necessary to achieve goals; assist participants to recognize and manage symptoms of mental illness, addictions, or other barriers that may interfere with their ability to meet goals. Provides information and support to those interested in obtaining a certification or degree.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities for:  This title does not supervise others.

Regular and Reliable attendance is required.

Provide life-skills training supported employment services to assist consumers in gaining the skills and confidence necessary to achieve career goals i.e., interviewing, social skills, career discovery and job readiness, job search skills, hygiene, reliability, time management, financial literacy, benefits management, etc.

Conduct job coaching/pre-employment coaching to assist participants with problem solving. Provide support on/off the work site.

Complete all required documentation that is accurate, timely, meets organizational standards in composition/content and is adequate to communicate consumer progress/challenges.

Comply with caseload and documentation expectations; adhere to organizational and grant policies and procedures.

Work with Employment Team Lead to develop work experiences, and job shadowing opportunities; develop employment opportunities based on each consumer needs, abilities, and interests.

Facilitates client’s use of family, social and community resources; act as an advocate with external resources, agencies, and self-help programs.

Maintain necessary communications and reporting with referral sources and other involved parties as approved by the client; provides testimony in court in regards to client’s behavior and condition when requested.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year college or university with coursework in criminal justice, counseling, education, psychology, social work or related field preferred. High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of paid/volunteer experience in employment, behavioral health, criminal justice, or other human services field required. Candidates must be computer literate in Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and select programs required to carry out the duties of the position. Must have excellent verbal and have the ability to communicate with diverse groups i.e., consumers, staff, employers, court officials, etc. Satisfactory driving record, reliable transportation required, and proof of insurance.

Flexible locations include: Owen, Lawrence, Monroe, Morgan, Brown, Bartholomew County.
