SUMMARY

This is an Information Solutions position in support of the pharmacy and other medication workflows. Exhibits ability to gather the appropriate data, devise and design low-to-mid level complexity systems solutions to client issues and problems. Demonstrates foundational knowledge of computer systems, applications and interfaces. Demonstrates a basic understanding of the CT Children's clinical and business functions. Demonstrates attention to detail in data gathering, specifications development, documentation, and record keeping. Communicates effectively with clients, colleagues and developers. Demonstrates fundamental degree of analytical skill. Works under supervision when in support of project team initiatives.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Employs analytical skills to support, design, and maintain our medication and pharmacy information infrastructure.

Supports and understands integration between our difference pharmacy systems.

Performs day-to-day break/fix and maintenance as 2nd Level support.

Performs security administration and user provisioning activities.

Employs data gathering techniques designed to determine and define specific systems information

Requirements and objectives for maintenance or output requests.

Communicates clearly defined specs to clients and programming staff.

Identifies, analyzes and resolves data and system issues of low-to-mid level complexity.

Communicates specifications for programming/build staff, documents system modifications, and identifies data element conversion needs in existing applications.

Participates in the development, validation and execution of comprehensive implementation and test plans.

Follows departmental change control standards and reports changes to appropriate personnel.

Performs paid 24/7 on call support once acclimated.

May be required to travel to/from and work in the various Connecticut Children's locations, including patient care areas.

May be required to travel for mandatory certifications.

Understand and comply with all enterprise and IS departmental information security policies, procedures and standards.

Support the integration of information security in the development, design, and implementation of Hospital Technology Resources that process, transmit, or store CT Children's information.

Support all compliance activities related to state, federal regulatory requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and all other applicable regulations that govern the use and disclosure of patient, financial, or other confidential information.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Pharmacy workflows and integrations

Epic EHR experience

Application of the principles of quality improvement including methodologies, data collection.

Organizational and departmental structure, systems, workflow and operations policies/procedures.

Quantitative analysis to build databases and prepare spreadsheets and statistical reports.

Project management principles, practices, techniques and tools.

SKILLS:

Excellent communications, organizational and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of management.

Strong analytical, conceptual, and troubleshooting skills.

ABILITY TO:

Use independent judgment to make appropriate administrative/procedural judgments and decisions.

Pharmacy workflow and experience is a plus.

Bachelor's of Arts, Bachelor's of Science or Associate's degree in Information Systems or related field. Extensive and demonstrated work experience may be considered. One to three years relevant experience within a healthcare specific environment highly desired or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and capability.
