Robert Half Finance and Accounting is looking for a Payroll/Benefits Manager for a Rockland County based manufacturing firm. The Payroll/Benefits Manager will be responsible for managing the payroll and benefits program. Additional responsibilities include: Process weekly payroll account transactions such as salary, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and 3rd party payments Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by understanding existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions Manage FMLA claims and provide assistance with unemployment related matters Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations at all times Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of employee benefit and retirement programs Administer and manage benefit, retirement, insurance and wellness programs Supply employees with documents related to enrolling, maintaining and understanding benefit coverage Analyze effectiveness of benefit programs and make recommendations to increase employee participation Oversees unemployment and workers compensation processes as required by state and federal laws. Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field; professional certification (e.g. CPP, CPM) is a plus Proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role Excellent understanding of multi-company, multi-location payroll and taxes Above average proficiency in payroll software/HRIS (e.g. Paychex, ADP) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel) Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines Excellent interpersonal skills, extremely organized, flexible, self-starter.
