THE STARTING SALARY FOR A NEW HIRE TO THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO $72,993 to $85,000. Salary offers for the selected candidate are based on the candidate's education and experience related to the position, as well as our agency budget and equity.
This position is not subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide overall server support functions including but not limited to maintenance and care of VMware and server/backup infrastructure devices and maintaining a healthy Active Directory environment.
  • Assist team members or other staff at ITD in resolving complex issues with servers that may be affecting applications. Also involves contacting and working with vendor support to resolve issues.
  • Provide support for the Windows Server operating system and VMware vSphere platform.
  • Provide system administration support for the configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Office 365 cloud application, Azure, and AWS.
  • Work with our user base to solve server-related issues including permission and access issues. Provide support for DOJ users in restoring deleted or lost files. Utilize ITD backup system and software to effectively assist users in restoring files and/or databases to resolve issues.
  • Provide system administration support for physical and VMware virtual servers. This includes assisting team members or other staff at ITD in resolving complex issues with servers that may be affecting applications. Also involves contacting and working with vendor support to resolve issues. This may involve the Windows operating system or VMware vSphere platform.
  • Act as backup for other team members on the infrastructure team
  • Communicate daily with IT management and senior team members written and verbally about the health of Active Directory, M365, and virtual systems to include storage targets.
  • Install, configure and maintain virtual host servers, storage and equipment in the DIT Eastern and Western Data Centers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
  • Experience managing major cloud platforms like AWS and/or Azure, including provisioning, scaling, and/or security management.
  • Experience managing virtual systems like VMware and/or Hyper-V
  • Experience deploying different operating systems like Windows Server and/or Linux, including their functionalities, configurations, and/or troubleshooting techniques.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressive experience in systems software programming,

OR

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in systems software programming,

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.
