Position: Senior Data Architect
We are currently looking for a Senior Data Architect to join the team in Seattle, WA. This role DOES NOT offer relocation. Candidates in different locations can be considered if they are near any of our locations within the US. If a candidate is interested in WA and they do not live in that area, they will need to relocate at their own expense.
As a prospective candidate, you will love data and understand how it’s used to drive businesses forward through the collection, conditioning, governing, and application. You must have experience in large-scale digital enterprises and understand how to work cross-functionally across the enterprise to recognize opportunities and constraints in building and delivering a successful data program.
You will lead activities to define and develop data strategy, identify technologies that work best to address different use cases, and ensure architecture conforms to data requirements. You will lead the development and configuration management of architecture views and models, assess the feasibility of architecture solutions, perform trade-off analyses, evaluate products for integration into delivery system environments, and draft data and information management products and service standards. You will collaborate and work with development team members and coach and mentor other team members.

You will love technology and its ability to drive the data ecosystem. You will have experience in dealing with highly distributed products at a global scale and develop the technical roadmaps to support growing trends for personalization of training technologies, optimization of operations, and virtuous loop of product development. You will bring technical expertise in implementing systems dealing with small to big data sets and be knowledgeable in the ever-growing services available in the cloud.
Data Governance
Aviation is data-rich and it needs to be tamed. We need you to bring your data governance expertise to contextualize and normalize our data environment. Data models, taxonomies, and MDM are all tools in your toolkit to help us develop a data governance program that ensures we understand our assets and those of our customers. Through the common language of data, you’ll help unite the aviation ecosystem for the current and next generation.
Export Control Requirement
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience)
- 8+ years of demonstrable Data architecture experience, including experience with data modeling, data storage, data movement, and discovery tools.
- Deep knowledge of database design, data architecture, and relational databases.
- Experience with microservices.
- Experience in Agile and DevOps.
- Understanding of Cloud technologies – Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Azure, AWS, etc.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to fail fast, learn, and pivot.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Experience with linked data (like json-ld) and graph databases.
- Experience in establishing organizational-wide data standards, practices, taxonomies, and enforcement.
- Ability to support offshore development teams.
- Experience developing a community of practices to facilitate discussions with technical teams to drive improvement and efficiencies.
- Experience working with technical team members and executives.
- Knowledge or experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
This is the pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position: $65.50/hour - $72.78/hour.
