GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Rail Project Manager who can be based from any of our Midwest offices. GHD is expanding the services in our Rail/Transit group. This position will be play an integral part in the development and growth of GHD's Midwest Rail  practice. We are looking for individuals who are driven and passionate and want to be challenged in their career development.
  • Participate in/lead business development efforts necessary to successfully grow and deliver a Class 1 Railroad infrastructure design/engineering business in the Midwest, USA
  • Lead GHD’s client relationships with the Class 1 Railroad industry in this space; develop proposals, deliver work products, and maintain relationships
  • Deliver GHD’s Rail projects to budget, schedule, and quality standards, provide overall supervision and project management during the full design-construct cycle including:
    • Interface with GHD leadership, design management and production team on resource management, schedule, and budget 
    • Work closely with GHD design group and other Rail professionals to develop conceptual & detailed designs including coordination of engineering disciplines       
    • Prepare and negotiate contract documents, liaison with internal Contract Management / Legal team  
    • Attend design and construction meetings, prepare, and distribute minutes 
    • Monitor project schedules, coordinate, and maintain contact with sub consultants, municipalities, utility companies, railways, and assist with contract administration as assigned
    • Respond to contractor questions, review shop drawings, requests for information and attends site meetings during construction as required
    • Prepare, track, and administer project budgets 
  • BS/MS Degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of engineering/project management experience leading large multi-discipline engineering teams 
  • Strong relationships and project management experience on Class 1 Railroad projects
  • Strong knowledge in project delivery and experience in managing teaming arrangements with contractors and consultants
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of engineering/project management experience leading large multi-discipline engineering teams
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven experience in winning and delivering engineering services for Class 1 Railroad infrastructure projects in varying size and complexity, from project inception through execution to turnover 
  • Strong understanding of transit facilities, rail, stations, electrification, and signaling
