Job Description

Responsible for follow-up design details and PLC/Robotic programming from our NY Engineering group for custom highly sophisticated and technologically advanced Industrial x-ray Inspection Systems.


Job Description:

• Work closely with the Mechanical and System Engineering teams both in CT and NY for the design of electromechanical and/or material handling systems.
• Implement and revise as needed control system PLCs and robotics.
• Finalize and revise documents using AutoCAD for Electrical.
• Generate, revise, and finalize BOMs.
• Work with Production for system integration and test.
• Provide support to Technical Writing and Project management Teams in the creation of technical documentation, system manuals, and customer-facing documentation.
• Travel to customer sites as required in support of technical discussions, kick-off meetings, oversee installations, or troubleshooting.
• Initial one week to one-month cumulative familiarization, training, and hands-on work at the NY facility.


Essential Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 4 plus years of experience as a Controls Engineer with a strong background in industrial, automated machinery systems.
• Ability to work to schedules under time constraints in a dynamic environment
• Proactive, team player with established verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience generating detailed electrical design drawings, schematics, and related documentation for electro-mechanical systems incorporating the use of robotics, PLC, automation, and/or part manipulation.
• Prior experience in a QA controlled design environment. (ISO 9000, NQA-1, or similar) Must be highly organized and self-motivated
• Proficient with AutoCAD for Electrical. • Knowledge of motor drives (Copley), PLC (Allen Bradley, Siemens), and PC based control system.
• Knowledge in control programming environments such as RSLogix, VB, or other scripting languages
• Knowledge of CANbus, Controller Area Network (CAN) for real-time control system applications.
• Robotics programming (will send to training course if required)
• Knowledge of Pneumatic Actuator Control and Relay Logic
• Knowledge of Machine Guarding Systems and Power Distribution Electrical Controls Engineer
• Knowledge of CE, UL, or other applicable regulatory guidelines or standards
• Must have experience in tuning and Integration of DC Drives, VFD's, Servo Drives, PLC's and PC based control systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work to schedules under time constraints in a dynamic environment
• Experience working with and generating BOMs within an MRP or ERP system.
• Prior experience in a QA controlled design environment. (ISO 9000, NQA-1, or similar)
• Experience writing design specifications
• Must be highly organized and self-motivated
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of Tools
• Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent resident who is legally authorized to work in the US and able to successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.

Non-Essential Skills:

• Understanding of applicable local, state, federal & EU codes and design requirements
• Experience with Robotics programming a big plus.
• Prior experience with NDT and or X-ray equipment
