Sr. Civil Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Engineering Group Manager (EGM), the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a proven track record in supervisory roles, strategic project management, and client acquisition.The Senior Civil Engineer should be a motivated, hands-on individual who can work both independently and collaboratively to meet time-sensitive deadlines. The successful candidate will adhere to company policy, work well with others, and thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Management: Act as the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer for clients, managing multiple projects, ensuring timely completion, and profitability. Review plans and specifications to ensure conformity within the project scope requirements. Prepare reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.
2. Workload Management: Prepare forecast of workload for assigned staff. Manage contract administration and control work-in-progress. Ensure accurate client billings and monitor outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on projects.
3. Business Development: Work with the EGM and others in pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for new projects. Develop and promote feasible design strategies for clients in relation to cost and regulatory compliance requirements.
4. Client Relations: Routinely seek out new clients and interact regularly with existing clients at meetings. Work with management regarding firm's marketing strategies.
5. Team Leadership: Work with the EGM in managing others. Review the work of junior engineers and provide support, mentoring, and training. Encourage growth, solicit and apply customer feedback, manage workloads, foster quality focus, improve processes, and communicate effectively.
6. CAD Management: Manage CAD application to design work. Produce detailed, final design plans in accordance with cost and regulatory compliance requirements. Direct the work of CAD designers and other technicians.
7. Data Management: Responsible for project files and other related project data.
8. Site Visits: Visit project sites to monitor progress and perform other duties per the contract documents.
9. Communication: Work effectively with clients, co-workers, and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress and issues to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions.
10. Safety Compliance: Maintain commitment to standards of safety and comply with all safety laws and company safety policies/rules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor and Master degrees in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
2. Five to seven years of progressive experience in managing projects and employees.
3. Proficient use of CAD software.
4. Professional Engineers license.

Desirable Skills:

1. Ability to provide mentoring to junior level positions.
2. Ability to establish inside and outside contacts related to department or function.
3. Ability to market new clients and bring in projects to the firm. Requires well developed sense of timing and strategy.
