Mental Health Advocacy Coordinator
40 hours per week
NAMI Southwest Washington (NAMI SW WA) provides mental health education, support groups, a monthly newsletter, and community advocacy. We are located at 2500 Main Street, Vancouver, WA 98660. NAMI SW WA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and an independent NAMI National affiliate. Our goal is to work in an environment with reduced trauma to ensure that all staff and volunteers can maintain a high level of mental and physical wellness. We support a stigma-free society.
JOB DESCRIPTION
PURPOSE:
Responsible for Community Education of NAMI Southwest Washington presentations. Assists in developing and monitoring program budgets and contracts—coordinates with internal agency staff, external organizations, and funders regarding programming. Studies and analyzes community needs for the basis of presentation development. With deep knowledge of core programs, operations, and plans, she/he reports to and works closely with the executive director and other NAMI SW Washington staff. They are responsible for monitoring, managing, and guiding community presentations.

DUTIES:
Plans, organizes and oversees the operations of all presentations. Ensures thatrequirements, goals, and standards are met. Monitors overall quality of presentations; works with staff to achieve identified goals. Develops presentation policies andprocedures.
Conduct planning and development to meet NAMI SWWA needs andresources.
Makes recommendations for developing new presentations or enhancing existing ones.
Develop and prepare proposals for new and/or expanded presentations and funding. Implements new and/or expandedpresentations.
Manages contracts. For example, venue contracts for educational presentations orevents.
Working with the Executive Director, develops and oversees the presentation budget.
Represents agency in the community. Attends communitymeetings.
Promotes and maintains working relationships with other agencies. Establishes connections with local employers, training institutions, and other community-based organizations and develops and fosters theserelationships.
Research and analyze data to identify community needs.
JOB TASKS
Complete all appropriate facilitator training and obtain facilitator credentials as offered
Execute all logistics of training programs, from recruitment and implementation to ensuring that completion rates for participation are maintained per any curriculum requirements
Maintain accurate and current participant attendance for tracking & reporting promptly
Represent NAMI SWWA at networking meetings and community events
Regularly travel and work independently in the field
Perform other responsibilities as appropriate and necessary
Coordinate with community organizations, public agencies, and volunteers for presentationsand relationship-building/networking
Initiate and encourage the local community’s involvement in NAMIprograms
Research and attend community opportunities, such as training, exhibitor requests, and Health Fairs
Sit on the appropriate community boards or committees, asapplicable
Participate in public policy advocacy efforts by recruiting NAMI members, volunteers, and others to attend public meetings.
FUNDRAISING/GRANTS:
Research and identify new government, corporate, foundation, and private funding opportunities forpresentations.
Assist in writing new grants forprograms
Work with the Executive Director to develop funding strategies.
Assist with reports to government, corporate, foundations, and other funders required for presentations.
Establish and maintain personal relationships with foundation contacts and grant program officers whenapplicable
PERSONAL TRAITS:
Ability to work Monday – Friday, some weekends, and evenings
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Flexibility: ability to work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment while also driving toward clarity and solutions
Personal qualities required: ability to cultivate an environment of trust and to embody the values of mindfulness, quality, adaptability, collaboration, accountability, integrity, high professional standards, and ethics. Other desirable qualities: maturity, self-motivation, good judgment, positive attitude
Reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License that meets the organization’s insurance company’s requirement for coverage.
OPERATIONS/OTHER DUTIES:
Participate in weekly executive team staff meetings and other all-staff meetings/eventsas required
Provide support and mentoring for other staff andvolunteers
Additional duties as assigned by the ExecutiveDirector
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be mobile and able to bend, stoop, reach, and moderately lift (up to 30 pounds)
Must be able to sit/stand at a workstation and/or a computer screen for up to 2 hours at a time
Benefits:
Holiday pay for all major and minor holidays.
80 hours of vacation time per year for the first two years.
Accrual of 1 hour of sick time every 40 hours worked.
Full-time salary, with raises once a year.
Wage:
Annual salary range $60,000-$65,000.
$700 monthly stipend for healthcare

Additional qualification:
Because NAMI SW WA works with a vulnerable population, we must conduct background checks for felony convictions for violent or sexual assault and theft upon consideration of hire. Suppose you have a felony conviction older than ten years. In that case, you have fully completed your sentence, and you disclose the information before the check is conducted. You may submit an explanation to the hiring committee as they assess the risk criteria factors.
Local travel may be required for this position – up to 40 miles one way. We cover four counties in Southwest Washington and may have projects in any of those four counties. We do cover mileage expenses if a report is filed. You must provide proof of driver’s license and insurance.
