Job Description:

IT Business Analyst - The Reference Data organization is the firm-wide provider of product (financial securities), counterparty, agreement, book & account reference data, which is critical to 500+ consuming applications spanning multiple lines of business (Global Markets, Global Wealth & Investment Management, etc.) from the front office (trading apps, etc.) to the back office.

A regulatory team aligned to Reference Data (Global Recovery and Resolution Planning Regulatory, Regulation W) is looking to hire a Business Analyst/Project Manager to work with two of its regulatory applications. These applications are responsible for sourcing, enriching and aggregating the firm’s trading, settlement, positions and collateral data for the purposes of regulatory reporting.

This person will work in a global software development team located in New Jersey, New York, Chicago and Bangalore responsible for maintaining and enhancing the regulatory reporting platforms. He/she will be responsible for requirements, design, testing, and support of various projects ranging from 1 to 10 people in size. The focus for this role is to work with the various business and project teams to help translate business requirements into functional and system requirements, to define viable solutions and testing methods, and to coordinate the delivery according to the needs of the business. This analyst will also be responsible for managing the overarching governance and compliance of the applications with enterprise mandates, such as non-permitted technology updates and disaster recovery exercises.

Financial industry knowledge or experience is not required, but desired. The ideal candidate is a passionate data analyst with project management experience, who enjoys analyzing data, documenting business functions and requirements, and leading the delivery of business-prioritized deliverables. Must have strong communication skills and team player approach.

Requirements:

•             Strong Business function and data analysis skills

•             Strong test-driven analyst skills, problem solving, analytical, and quick learning aptitude are highly desirable

•             Relational database experience with SQL required

•             4-8 years of total hands-on Analyst experience desirable

•             At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience in Java is a plus but not required

•             Investment Banking experience is desirable

Responsible for capturing and refining business and/or system requirements (based on specialization). Works with stakeholders to understand their needs, analyze problems, and capture their requirements, and then working closely with the Development Team to refine the requirement into specifications that can be executed by the team. Possess a working knowledge of the business and/or technical domain based on their specialization. Leverages experience and understanding of stakeholder needs to help create a solution, envisions the solution to solve a problem (manual or through software). Performs Cost/Benefit Analysis to align the technology to business strategy. Gathers & catalogs functional, non-functional, and technical requirements for stakeholder requests. Determines the impact of modifications and enhancements on the application. Acts as the product(s) subject matter expert to support scope and requirement decisions. Ensures changes to the application are compliant with bank standards and policies. Assists users and development team with application testing and troubleshooting, and may help configure test solutions to validate functional and system needs. Identifies, document and troubleshoot application related problems. Documents process, procedures and workflows associated with applications. Leads or participate in continuous improvement efforts; Building expertise in creating, analyzing, and improving processes. Creates, maintains and presents training materials for end-users. Individual contributor.
