SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

In partnership with the tribal council, the Village Tribal Coordinator (Apprentice) works under the direction of the Tribal Administrator, with oversight by the Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC) Shareholder Development sponsorship. The apprenticeship is a paid, two (2) year work-based learning program that provides on-the-job training for Chugach shareholders and descendants to improve their skills and further their career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS / ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Provides general day-to-day administrative and project support for the tribal council.
  • Supports all tribal council projects and initiatives, as directed.
  • Maintains records, by digitizing, maintaining hard copy files, and archiving as directed.
  • Ensures filing is completed in a timely manner in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Researches, enters data, and compiles information as assigned.
  • Answers phones, emails and faxes, routing and directing as appropriate.
  • Communicates daily with supervisor regarding progress on assigned tasks.
  • Picks up and delivers supplies as needed.
  • Assists CAC Shareholders and Descendants with Chugach forms and applications.
  • Attends Shareholder Program Participant meetings.
  • Supports various regional shareholder events as directed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
MANDATORY

  • Chugach Alaska Corporation shareholder or descendant of a shareholder.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current resident of the community.
  • Basic level of computer experience with demonstrated skills in the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Or ability to obtain a driver's license within six (6) months of employment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain HIPAA compliance certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to complete Chugach’s Training Without Walls Program while in the Apprenticeship Program.

Knowledge Of: administrative procedures, policies and practices, operation of common office machinery including copiers, fax machines, and computers.

Ability To: maintain confidentiality and high attention to detail, communicate effectively orally and in writing, deal with people in a professional and courteous manner, exercise good judgment and initiative; prioritize projects and complete in accordance with established deadlines; perform duties in a timely, cost-effective manner; work independently; provide appropriate follow up; balance multiple tasks and deal with interruptions.
