Reports to (title): VP, Manager, Regional Associates

Job Description:

The Junior Regional Associate (JRA) is responsible for supporting and selling our mutual fund and separate account wrap products over the phone to third-party distributors who have entered into an agreement with Alger once fully licensed. The JRA will partake in ongoing focus Firm campaigns, Firm initiatives, maintain existing relationships, provide ongoing support to clients and continually qualify new leads for the external wholesalers. The JRA will also respond to inbound client calls, answers product questions, and provides performance data in an effort to solicit business. The Junior Regional Associate will be promoted to Regional Associate upon successful completion of the Alger new hire training program and passing the FINRA SIE, 7 and 63 licensing exams. Position requires FINRA Series 7 and 63 registrations in accordance with Alger's licensing policy. Passing SIE, Series 7 & 63 licenses will be required within first 6 month of employment

Pre-Licensing Duties & Responsibilities:

* Meet with various teams around distribution
* Study for required licensing (SIE, Series 7 & 63)
* Review Alger marketing material and thought leadership; listen to podcasts
* Learn about Alger strategies and various investment vehicles
* Practice product pitches and presentations of Alger strategies
* Attend and participate in daily meetings
* Shadow Regional Associates to learn how to be successful in the role
* Learn the Alger selling system and the 4 pillars
* Connect with marketing and sales desk manager on creating email campaigns
* Run Morningstar reports and analyze data
* Learn and execute on Salesforce reporting and functionality
* Participate in all HR sponsored training programs
* Learn discovery data, contact monkey, and other resources for the role
* Complete new hire training program

Post-Licensing Duties & Responsibilities:

* Utilizes knowledge of company products in an effort to develop business
* Proactively follows up with clients and prospective clients in a timely manner
* Promotes the sale of the company's proprietary mutual funds through internal and external distribution channels, assists with the development of sales tools/collateral, and delivers product training to both internal and external audiences
* Determine which financial product(s) the Firm offers best suits the potential advisor
* Initiate and maintain sales and service relationship with broker consultants to promote the sale of the company's products
* Profile & qualify new leads for the External Wholesalers (Regional Marketing Managers)
* Follow-up, thank you and fund/firm update calls
* Responsible for mailings/literature requests
* Assist external wholesaler with scheduling supplemental appointments with advisors
* Works closely with wholesalers to develop marketing strategy to manage assigned territory
* Prepares weekly action plan and reviews it daily to determine each day's call plan
* Develop & maintain relationships with all producers & prospects via the phone
* Respond to any inbound inquiries regarding the funds and the firm
* Travel with the External Wholesaler (Regional Marketing Manager) twice per year
* Attend conferences when appropriate

Qualifications:

* Undergraduate Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience
* A cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above in a 4.0 scale
* 0-3 years' experience in a client support or internal sales role
* 0-3 years' experience in the mutual fund/financial services industry
* Position requires FINRA Series 7 and 63 registrations in accordance with Alger's licensing policy. Passing SIE, Series 7 & 63 licenses will be required within first 6 month of employment
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience with sales calls essential a plus
* Must meet required outbound call/contact activity levels as set by Manager, Maintain a minimum of 8-10 quality contacts per day

Skills:

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
* Must have excellent follow-up skills
* Experience with CRM system a plus, Salesforce.com preferred
* Comprehensive knowledge of mutual fund/financial industry products and services
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
