CPG Advanced Pain and Spine - Medical Assistant or CNA
Status/FTE: FT / 0.8-1.0 FTE
Shift length: 8 hours, M-F
Start Time: 0745
Weekend Requirements: None
Unit: CPG Advanced Pain & Spine
This is a full-time (0.8-1.0 Status), day shift Medical Assistant or CNA position at the CPG Advanced Pain and Spine Institute.
CMA Responsibilities:
Major responsibility to assist the physicians and nurses with patients. This includes:
- Greeting and escorting patients to the exam rooms
- Taking vitals, height, weight, histories
- Updating medication
- Developing and maintaining patient education materials
- Preparing patient equipment and medication prescriptions for the Physician
- Telephone prescription refills with Physician’s approval
- Charting and preparing informed consent forms for invasive procedures
- Calling physician orders to other health provider agencies (e.g., home health, nursing home, therapists)
- Securing x-ray films and preparing labs for the doctors
- Ordering clinical supplies
- Cleaning exam rooms and maintaining instruments
- Removing outdated medications
- Administering vaccinations
- Occasionally filling in for patient access: checking in patients, answering the phone, filing and pulling charts
Minimum Required for CMA:
- High School diploma or equivalent and advanced training to completion in a medical assistant program or certified nurse aid program
- One to two years' experience in the medical field
- Experience in Mental Health
- Medical Terminology
- BLS upon hire; Healthcare Provider BLS within 3 months of hire
- Basic computer knowledge
- Must become Registered or Certified Medical Assistant within 18 months
Preferred/Desired for CMA:
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant preferred
CNA Responsibilities:
The Certified Nurse Assistant works as an integral part of the patient care team providing support and assistance to a wide variety of patients and families. Performs Phlebotomy tasks as required and will be provided on-the-job training.
Minimum Required for CNA:
- CNA license in the state of Montana
- High School diploma or equivalent and advanced training to completion in a medical assistant program or certified nurse aid program
- Experience in Medical Terminology preferred
- Experience in Mental Health
- Medical Terminology
- Proficient communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are required
